Kailong wrote:what's the purpose for this insulation?
Hello Kailong, this insulation is supposedly to experience better coldness of the aircon.
Depends on whether you driving EX or SX:
Eg. if you driving SX and have to set Fan speed 2 and Temperature @ 22 degrees celsius to enjoy the aircon coldness. After insulation you might only need to set Fan speed 1 and Temperature @ 24 degrees celsius to have the same coldness.

Hi potatoes, i wouldnt say i am expert but i have gone through a few MU for installations before.
The insulation process takes about 2-3 hours on average.

Please add me to the list....
I have already insulated the pipe but don't really feel the change so maybe there is something wrong and may have to do a rework or patch up. I need guru Andikong to maybe help me assess where it is wrong.
I'll suspecting that CnC did not top up the gas...rather than a insulating problem...but I could be wrong too.

Wow, 20 degrees celsius ? I think after insulating, it should be between 22-24 degrees celsius to have the same coldness.

I wan to ask a question, bros. Izzit normal to see condensation on the air con piping??
daniu82- Junior Member
Re: Organising DIY Aircon insulation
Ever seen icing appears on people's face when they are at an extremely cold place....and they are shaking all over?
That's the same with the aircon piping...it is breaking out in cold sweat due to extreme cold.
Or look at it in another way, sun heat water, water evaporate and become cloud, rise higher and higher into the atmosphere....high attitude is cold....turn into rain and falls back to earth....
So yeah, condensation is normal.

Re: Organising DIY Aircon insulation
based on my understanding of aircon system, insulating would not make it colder.as what we preset e.g 20 deg, the aircon will supply 20 degrees of cool air either u have insulation or not. The onlything that it helps is to reduce the aircon system workload and reduce fuel consumption( fuel penalty). just my point.maybe i might be wrong..

Dun need to hold one DIY just for that. Just if you happen to have the autoglym or zippo bring along. Think these 2 are tested and proved to work.

Hey all bros there, please use Zippo or Ronsonol (the original lighter fluid by Ronson Company).
Its the safest chemical around and it won't stain on any surface when dry. i have been using it for more than 40 years since the day when computer don't even exist. I use it to remove sticky stuff and pasted art-works. I can remove you Forte or Cerato logo in less than ONE min without any stain or residue on you paint surface. Just clean off with a piece of clean dry cloth. Believe me I have done it with bro gazoo
and Fortec the first five Forte car who did the air-con insulations in early March 2009.

Please dont bring plastic containers because the last time round we tried pouring the adhesive glue and it melted (yakult bottles) after awhlie.
If worse come to worse, share share loh.
Or can buddy system.
Meaning 2 person do 1 car first. One person cut and the other wrap. Then subsequently do the other car. Should be pretty fast.
