eg: i think rating RZ is 300km/hr and above.
so dont go beyond the rating, tyre cannot take it

The condition of Singapore road should be considered 95% city roads... what expressways we talking about, especially those who drive on ECP, PIE, KPE, CTE or whatever E, with the start stop start stop traffic on those Es, they should be considered as city driving...
How often do you actually can be driving on an expressway non stop at constant speed for at least half hour.... probably none if you are driving on our Es... by the time half hour is up, we are at the end of the E anyway....

Only manage to get 7l - 9l per 100km for the first half of the tank.. Subsequently the avg drops to 10.1l/100km in the end..
Mine's a 1.6SX Auto/ pumping Shell 95. After monitoring for the past 3 full tank, the avg F/C is about 9.72km / l ... This seems bad to me as I dun think I'm a heavy footer.. Anyone having the same results? hope this will get better..

Disclaimer:
This is not scientifically proven...
result might varies from different vehicles...
based on what i tested in not a controlled condition...
based on Ron97(malaysia)...
ranking of good FC tested on YZFR1-03
1st caltex, joint 2nd shell and esso, 3rd Petronas...
What i read in an article that i cant recalled is that ron92 give better mileage compared to ron 95, and ron 95 is better than ron98.
performance wise is the opposite... IMHO

I get best FC with shell 98 with my previous ride. I tried SPC 98 for some time then pump back shell 98....man it felt like I pumped V power, and that was the last time I tried SPC... btw I got the worst mileage with it. Can imagine I never complained when I pump shell 95.

Update on FC with the new rims on.
Average reading is 6.7l/100km these 2 days
Petrol used Esso 5000 (coz it's just opposite the road), will try the cheaper one next round to see any difference.

Have you tried hard acceleration or travelled at high speed for a long period before ? if so, then it is normal.
Otherwise, it is because the grade of your engine oil was changed recently? to lower viscosity oil?

Re: Fuel Consumption
Hi guys, I just registered in this forum (cuz somehow i couldn't log into sgkiaclub anymore..*shrug*)
Anyway I'm awaiting my forte hopefully in late june. I'm currently driving a vios so the FC of the new car is a big concern to me.
Anyway from my experience these are a few things that really make a difference to FC, I do these regularly and I get 16km+/l on my manual vios.
- aircon. Set the climate control or aircon 'coldness dial' to the minimum possible for you comfort, especially if u are driving alone. Just turn up the fan speed. The fan speed uses electricity which is being generated by the alternator no matter what, but the aircon compressor loads the engine whenever it is turned on, so by turning the temp from 18degree to 25degree while increasing fan speed, u can easily save alot. (I get an extra 80km+ out of 40liter tankful from my civic last time just from this change)
- maintain proper tire pressure. I check my tires every 2 tankfuls, especially the front tires as they hold more load and are the drive tires.
- Don't carry unnecessary stuff. How much more tired would u be if u carried a big heavy bag everyday?
- Solar film. The higher the heat rejection the better. My vios aircon setting doesn't have to be so cold after I installed good solar film, I calculated it got me an extra half km/litre from it.
I don't find better grades of petrol to improve FC. I get the same FC on my vios no matter if it's 92,95,98. I do agree that the better grades of petrol have some additives to clean your engine. Higher octane levels actually make it harder to burn, so highly tuned engines won't pre-detonate so easily. If your car isn't a highly tuned ferrari or STI WRX, there's no real improvement from using a higher grade of petrol.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Fuel Consumption
good points tiny.. which both a/c and tire pressure can helps to save petrol.. another point is to prevent idling, idling your car burn your petrol unnecessary.
Anyway tiny, dont expect forte to save as much as your vios. Vios is nature are built to be FC saver if really want to compare why dont compare vios and honda fit/jazz which save the most fc.
Just love your forte with an average of 11-12L/km

KnGp, running in the engine basically means when a new engine is made, there are alot of moving points in the engine compartment, so when u run in, u are shaping out the moving points so they will move smoothly after the run in period. Usually he initial run-ins there should be some small bits being shave off so its best to change the first engine oil in 1000km as stated in the manual. But the purpose of engine oil is only for lubricating and cooling purpose
more or less its like that lah, but if someone can explain better , please advise

How to break in an engine
I have read this couple of years ago. Pretty informative.
Well try not to do Hard run-in or break-in so to say.
Other methods can be tried
read the most common one that most pp do and that is on the streets
convert the miles to KM by multiplying 1.6 you know the rough gauge

Anyway most of the cars should have 10L reserve..... so don worry..... as long as u know ur FC.... don wack ur car (drive calmly & gently~80km/hr max) after the reserve light on... should comfy to go from Pasir Ris to Tuas or Vice Versa before u find a Petrol station.

Re: Fuel Consumption
Spec wise, forte's fuel tank capacity is 53L.
Low fuel warning light lights up 46L-47L. So you will have about 5L-6L of petrol before your tank really dries up. Taking average FC of 10km/L as a guide, worst case you will have 50km to find the nearest petrol station to fill up. In Singapore, it should not be a problem but when travelling to Malaysia, it's something to take note of.
