Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
Is this one correct??
Use now, pay later??
http://sgcgo.com/opc-e-day-licence-to-replace-paper-licence-from-23-nov-09/
From 23 November 2009, besides the benefits of extended hours and more
alternative channels of purchase, motorists have the option of buying
the e-Day Licence after using the OPC, as long as they do so before 2359 hours the next day. Currently, the paper licence must be purchased before the use of the vehicle.

Yeah... think they will just charge you 10k straight because confronting you on the spot also no use already.
If they had a system to deduct some prepaid but undated licenses and issue warning it will be much nicer... 3 strikes and you are out is better for us.

Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
think we all must not forgetful given we have this convenience, else we facing a big penalty!
I had registered an account on mobilepay.sg but however have to wait for them to send a letter to my house with activation code in order to activate the use of purchasing e-Day license service!!
As I need to drive out now, I turn into option 2 by accessing onemotoring.com.sg to purchase. There is much faster and easy to purchase. You will need iBanking to do the purchase.
Hope my experience help u all.

benng33 wrote:How LTA know we drive without e-day license ?
LTA will be petrolling or hidding like those TP catching people speeding. They will take down any OPC car that come across them and go back office do a check on their system.

Regarding e-coupons and LTA checks...
Just thinking, do you guys notice the cameras that they install on the lamp posts along the highways?
Will those be used to capture all our red plates?
I know there are technology that can detect wordings from pictures but not sure if LTA has this.
If i not mistaken our Post Office uses this. So if they can detect and sort out millions of letters with ugly handwritings, detecting our printed license plates should be easy right???
I think better not play2.... Not worth the summons...

Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
i've been wondering all along since they announced this e-Day coupon too.. the same question as most of u.. how LTA or TP gonna catch us?
under this new system, LTA allow OPC to drive today, buy tmr. so if i drive today and kanna caught, then say i buy tmr/tonight loh. if not caught, can juz drive for free le mah. am i right to say so?
the only way i can think of is like wat gazoo said, take our car plate and check against system record, which we will not know our car plate is taken anot cos we would be travelling high speed. dun think normal road camera will capture our car plate unless u beat red light camera or speed camera. normal camera on lamp post so smart to detect which car red plate which car black plate? i believe they are juz to monitor live traffic conditions.
chill.. im not finding ways and means to avoid paying $20 but juz thinking aloud and very curious how they enforce this only. some bro pls enlighten me

Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
anyone check if the special opc car plate seal is not some sort of identifier that can transmit ur number????
JuanST- Senior Member
Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
Out-source lor. They can easily position workers all around the island to take video. At night, rewatch the video and submit all the red plate numbers to TP. Next day, TP do data entry and check whether u got buy e-coupon. æš—ç®éš¾é˜²ã€‚

Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
E.g.
u drive today n ur car number was spotted (either by camera or by TP or any LTA officer) they will not stop u or talk to u at all.. i.e. u are clueless of if ur car number is recoreded.. den they go back log ur number into their computer system.. then 2 or more days later.. they check if u did buy e-coupon on the day or the next day after u drove... and they will know rite? =)
imho, i think this e-coupon thing is a "smart" way to deal with OPC (both LTA n users).. easy for them to monitor n no hassle to users..

Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
it is very interesting to hear from people talking abt using Super High Tech way to detect if we use OPC car.. the guy at the workshop that i went to change my rims even said tat after e-coupon, they will know if we move our car even its is jus a few metres... Come on.. u guys seriously think LTA will install such gadget jus to track us? no way... tat will cost them a bomb n not worth it at all.. yes GPS can do tracking but u need a lot of effect to do a "OPC got move a not" project.. and dun think they have time n money for this..

Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
I actually think its an awesome idea, I mean from the govt point of view.
hahah i think whoever came up with this, probably got a super big bonus.
In the past, a TP or patrol car has to drive up to match your speed to see your coupon (which i've encountered before). Of course, in serious cases, they pull you over, but they generally try not to do that.
Now, the patrol car, or the "take bus-lane" aunty at traffic junction, can just copy your number and end-of-day key into the system.
> then at night, if you buy your e-coupon last minute. good for you.
You don't buy, you kenna very bad.
so, basically, the fear of "god" is in you. You better buy to play safe.
Really is efficient. I actually like it, saves the effort of queueing for coupons

This is the 1st Saturday of 2010... Just a gentle reminder to all bros & siss tt the New OPC scheme which allow driving on Saturday has NOT started yet... It will only start end of Jan 2010...
You will still be under the existing restricted timings if you have not opt in for the New Scheme... So, dun drive before 3 pm on Sat if you have not opt in for the new scheme...
Happy New Year 2010!

Re: OPC owners - gentle reminder
If my guess is correct, it is not difficult for LTA to track OPC cars at all... No need to deploy Traffic Wardens or play back videos to capture our car plates... These will be far too troublesome! Installing GPS tracking on every OPC cars will be far too costly!
Just think simple, where can Singaporeans go with their cars? To be more precise, what is the chance of you using you car and not passing through a single ERP system? Carpark ERP included. There you know the answer!
I believe ERP gantries that are not in-operations are also 'live'. Meaning, your IU no. will still be captured when you pass through... Else, how LTA obtain profiles of road usage? It is not cheap to setup the ERP system and i dun think LTA will let ERP gantries installed zzz on their investment...
