Cause for SX, no hazard light when door open unless install aftermarket alarm.

U will only have this feature if u install or car comes with aftermarket alarm system...for SX, if stock remote, there will be no hazard light upon opening of door...

I find its good as in to warn behind cars if stopping along roadside (and forgot to on hazard light) and then go out to grab something.

And like you said, it might shorten the bulb's lifespan because it also on hazard light when opening the doors when in carpark.

Ok asking on behalf of friend driving EX. Car come with local fitted alarm by CnC. No hazard light when open door. Those bros/sis driving EX with alarm by CnC, anybody open door have hazard light on?

Agreed. If you're concerned about lightbulb lifespan at least go and install door courtesy light.

my ex hazard light also blinks when i open door but only for a short while.

Stock condition

no hazard/signal light will appear when u open/close all the 4/5/6 doors, only when u remote lock/unlock SX model the signal/hazard will blink 2-3 times thats all....

OK, my guess is that there are two different types of locally fitted alarm for the EX.......

1. Those without the Hazard light when door opened is those with one green button on their remote.....

2. Those with the remote button on the key itself will have the hazard light thingy when door opened...

nocash, divine, mwerk & neofik can tell us if you are using the alarm with the button on the key itself ?

Hopefully my guess is correct....

my EX will blink hazard light when door open. alarm given by SE.

why need to complicate matters? Both stock condition EX/SX by default do not have the hazard light on if doors open....
only when owner have installed aftermarket alarm system, the installer will link this function up from the alarm module, door open, hazard light on.....
Why keep going round and round?

Stock SX no auto hazard light blink when open door. Only after fitted with alarm then it blinks.Will blink for 15sec or until door closed whichevr come first.

I cannot see a relationship between alarm and hazard light. Why do they have to tie up alarm and hazard light? I think it's very irritating each time one opens door, hazard light blinks. We talk about bulb lifespan and in fact I think battery is draining as well.

It's also surprising to me, the salesperson dunno abt this. I asked the Service personnel, he told me, "what happens if you drive your car with the door not properly close?" in a lecture-kind of way. OMG, these ppl if dunno don wanna say dunno and make up all the craps and think ppl buy their crabs?

When I requested this 'special' feature to be disabled, they replied can't do that as it's built in which I think it's another crap.

BTW, mine's a 1.6SX Auto. With the auto-retractable mirrors which I think it's another crap. Why would KIA wanna make it auto? If I want it retracted, I'll do it myself. I told serviceman and he replied, "What if it's not auto and you forget to keep it in, someone accidentally knocked and caused it malfunction?" Another BS he tries to pull... tsk tsk tsk... I must say, I'm very very disappointed with this guy, but pity I dunno his name.

to cut the story short, hazard light on when door open serve as a safety measure especially when one stop by the road side especially at night, at least the approaching car on the next lane can see...unless everyone is so civil minded that whenever stop along the road side, he/she auto on hazard light before opening the door...anyway, the hazard light will cut off after abt 10-15 secs depends on your alarm system and it won't make any significant impact on yr light bulb service life...my old ride also have this feature and for the last 5 yrs my stock bulb work fine till the day I scrap the car.....

If u really hate the system and the auto retract side mirror function, just drop by any accessories shop, spend some money and get it re-work....end of story.

dear hapifrut, think ur se gave u the alarm as freebies... thats y u got this function... my se quote me for 250 also (i only ask after i collected my car, as i tot all the car should come with alarm, but they said most sgp car no, but my se said even if i request during booking, aslo pay 250)

but, i am quite puzzle also, when i call their service centre, they said the forte dont come with alarm and they have no alarm installation by them for forte also... but my se said the workshop supervisor quoted him.. and even told me the supervisor name if i would like to go down to install the alarm

SX - Most of us installed our own alarm, so we should know ourselve whether have hazard light option and we can choose to disable it.

My question is more to EX owner- My friend EX alarm come from CnC/SE and no hazard light. Question, are all EX alarm given by CnC/SE the same?

So EX owners pls help me list down which alarm was installed and does it come with hazard light option.(Only alarm installed by CnC/SE). Thank you all.

Yes indeed I'm pissed. Struck with strings of unfortunate events; lost thousands in stocks, deposit fleeced by maid agency, bought a lemon cabinet, etc (

My pre-installed alarm system is a Cheetah CH015-SCL. I read the manual and couldn't make much sense out of it. The Installation-cum-User Manual is printed on a A3 size paper... WTF!

The only way to disable the hazard light blinking when open door, is to cut/disconnect 2 orange wires which are wired to the hazard lights. Is that how u guys disable yours too or just by changing some jumper settings?

Dunno exactly why they wanna wire it to hazard light, but seems like if the door is not tightly closed and alarm is activated, the hazard lights will blink.
I'm ok with this blink.

The difference is, my blinking lights happen even when the Engine is OFF. That I cannot accept.

From what I read, seems like the LFQ-018C is a better alarm system...

I totally agree with u, pessimizt. Hazard light should be ON even when engine is OFF. This is when I can press the pushbutton to ON the hazard light.

But now, to tie hazard light to open door active, is a different case. They make the lights blink only when the door is open and it's for 5 or 6 secs only.

i think its up to individual bah. i'm ok with the feature that you mentioned though.
since you dont like it, maybe can check with your alarm installer (CNC or aftermarket) to disable it ?

Problem is CnC told if I wanna disable it, I hv to remove the whole alarm system. If it's true, it could be a limitation of this pariah Cheetah alarm system. If not, I'm gonna shove his words up his and his boss's ...
