Re: Engine Oil
I guess any reasonable brand will do but try getting a fully synthetic one so that your engine will run smoothly.

Re: Engine Oil
anyway, a fresh EO is also good to have regardless what brand, either it break down faster or slower thats all. Time to change just change, feel gear box noisy, just change. But if got plenty of $$$ also can change!!

Re: Engine Oil
I tried Shell Helix when I was driving my civic. Didn't like it, oil was too viscous, terrible fuel economy, and it drops even more during the last 2k before servicing..
I've been letting stamford do my servicing recently, Caltex Havoline is decent, but not as good as Mobil One trisynthetic..Never tried other brands before..

Re: Engine Oil
One thing for sure, new car need thinner oil. After maybe 100,000km you should change to the thicker varieties..and change oil religiously at each 10k mark..So far all my cars no engine problem.

yesh...i felt shell Helix Ultra is kinda rough.
petrol comsumption wise is bad oso..to be compared wif mobil or other higher end oil.
i felt engine is louder after shell helix.
no good
Mobil is one of the normal and good oil.

Re: Engine Oil
if we service by CnC, basically we have no control over the oil used...So after the 3 so-called free servicing...is it 3 servicing or 2? I will service outside...only alternate then go back for basic service just to login....btw, our warranty is 100 000km or 3 yrs, whichever come first, correct?

Re: Engine Oil
Actually I think it's wiser to do major servicing at CnC, as they'll be able to check and rectify other stuff like door hinges and maybe replace suspension components under warranty.
I intend to do basic servicing outside, go back for major servicing only. Maybe the warranty might be void though, I heard my friends told me once you do not go back for one of the servicing schedules, the agent has a right to completely void your warranty..Damn smelly move..

Re: Engine Oil
actually if you don't redline your engine all the time or drive for long hours...not really necessary to use fully synthetic oil...i think these days using semi synthetic oils should be sufficient...but do check at the service centre at C&C as they should know what is the minimum...

its not worthy bro, semi synthetic will only last you the most 5000km.
and the servicing will cost you ard $68.
if u go for fully synthetic, it will last you 10000km
and will cost u ard $98.
u will save money if u dare to use semi synthetic for 10000km.
and fully synthetic is more fuel saving and better for your engine for long run.

Fully agreed.....to maintain the wellness of car don't save on engine oil, to maintain the safety of yr ride, don't save on tires..
