Recommend a book you ever read.
Hello peeps, i just want to know if anyone in this forum does read books at all =D
If you do, please recommend some books you ever read and give some background infomation about it.
Here's mine.
I personally feel that this book is a heart-wrenching book, a very good book in all ways.
It allows you to look at an issue from different ways, instead of just looking at it from a viewpoint.
I'm 14 pages away from finishing the book and i hope by the time, i would get a new book to read that was recommended by the forum itself =D
Goodday

"Change of Heart" by Jodi Picoult.
Shay Bourne becomes the first person in decades to be sentenced to death in New Hampshire, when he is found guilty of the cold-blooded killing of a policeman and his stepdaughter.
After eleven years on Death Row, the end is coming for Shay. Until he sees a news piece about a young girl who urgently needs a heart transplant.
June's husband and daughter died at Shay Bourne's hands, and she thought her greatest desire was to see him killed. Then her remaining daughter is hospitalised, and she realises that there is something she wants even more: for Claire to live. Shay Bourne is offering June's daughter a miracle - a second chance. But at what cost ?

Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose.
Wished I had read it before I enlisted for NS. Unfortunately it was written some time after, I think.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It's a life changing book. Makes you realise that you don't live for others.

Re: Recommend a book you ever read.
Well tiny, now that you have a Forte, perhaps you are now less a nihilist than a materialist. If you're still the former, remind me to stay far away from you when you're driving...
But yes, I'd like to borrow your copy of Atlas Shrugged. Next meetup perhaps?
tiny: Do not try and drift the car. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
lordhawk: What truth?
tiny: There is no car.
lordhawk: There is no car?
tiny: Then you'll see, that it is not the car that drifts, it is only yourself.
Argh!

Are you guys into Fantasy Fiction?
Awhile ago i finished this book by Patrick Rothfuss, <The Name of the Wind>. (Kingkiller Chronicles). Part 1 of a series of 3 books. I think part 2 was just released <A wise's man fear>.
It's a darn good book. It gives an interesting and alternative perspective of how "magic" is actually created, based on some underlying psychological/physical interaction. The author is very good at using words to bring out different emotions/reactions. A very enjoyable book after you can get through the few chapters.
Guyss more good books must intro! hehe

Would you like The Fountainhead too? I find Fountainhead abit deeper, but individual vs the collective is a theme that is ever prevalent in our society..
Lordhawk, it's not the kind of nihilism that you are talking about.. I do not reject all forms of existences.
What I means is this (def: The belief that destruction of existing political or social institutions is necessary for future improvement).
Oh yah..btw I think my real religion is anarchist (or is it arsonist?)..i enjoy seeing things blow up and burn..

tiny, I will still stand far far away from you when you're driving.
Anarchism! Wah rao...
But yeah, I do share some of your sentiments regarding some of our existing institutions. But in that respect, I'm probably more a conservative reformist than anything else.
The Fountainhead...heard of it in JC but never got around to reading it.
