Hey bros, I'm driving manual too. (though my koup is not here yet)
But I'll like to ask if putting to Neutral and let the car roll will spoil anything (esp gearbox)?? Cuz I like to put Neutral cuz can save quite a lot on petrol..

manual gear can change to lower gears to chase police cars...

Re: Stick Shift Lovers TCSS!
Manual still the best All my cars have been manual. The feeling of downshifting and overtaking is still uncomparable by any equavilent auto cars. Plus the better FC helps too

Manual gearbox put to neutral and let it free gear move wont spoil anything.
Only thing is safety.. Dont do that while on downslopes or expressways...No control and no engine braking...

Re: Stick Shift Lovers TCSS!
Neutral gear does not help you to save fuel. With the Forte's information display you can verify for yourself that when in gear 4 or 5 and you completely lift off the gas pedal the reading shows 0.0 for the instant consumption rate, but once you step on the clutch the meter should be non-zero.

Re: Stick Shift Lovers TCSS!
I've been driving manual cars for many years. From my own manual calculation, if we engage our gears properly and use neutral gear at the right time, fuel consumption will be a lot better. I dun really trust the electronic calculation our ride has but will try to compare it with my manual calculation after my 1k servicing.

Hi bros, as mentioned previously, I had been driving Auto for all these years. After i got my Manual this week, I LOVE IT! I like how involve i'm in handling my drive (even after stuck in heavy traffic for a couple of times)!!! "Boring" is finally out of my dictionary for driving Can't wait for 1000km to chop chop finish & serviced, then test my car's full potential
(Warning: Manual will poison ur mind by taking away "slow down" )

Bro, I'm still getting use to it(Expecially first gear), but getting to know my White Lover better each day, at first "she" was very violent like a horse, slowly tame it, then will be in full control
Engine break rules!!! I was behind a BMW closely today, he speed up abit after traffic light [Not intentionally, first 2 gears quite powerful, so happened to drive close (Of course not to red line, just 3 to 4k rpm )] on a small road (behind me was 2 cars), Suddenly he jam brake to make a right turn !!! I jam break too & from 3rd gear i shift to 2nd gear as extra break... so close . However 2 cars behind me wasn't that lucky, the car behind stop in time, but got hit by the last car

Re: Stick Shift Lovers TCSS!
Tried the new causeway to Malaysia with a MT car and stucked in the jam for two hours up the slope? Nope doubt as you can use the hand brake, I almost couldn't really control my left foot for the clutch especially up to the last and highest part to the reach the Malaysia custom.
I gave up. That's why now I chose my new Forte a AT car.

Somehow Manual makes me feel that I am in control of the car totally, but then the funny thing is.....the market value for AT car is more than MT car right ??

I agree that driving a MT car felt in full control, attained satisfaction & saves fuel.
Ironically, Singapore has too much traffic lighted junction and traffic jams during peak hours which leads to a wiser choice for AT car.
Unless the MT car is used as weekend "FUN" vehicle where you have a AT car as a daily commuting vehicle.
The choice is up to each.

AT gearbox cost more than a MT gearbox.
Therefore it will cost more on paper and OMV.

Re: Stick Shift Lovers TCSS!
my last car i was swapping out my AT box, the mechanic was explaining to me AT box technology where every single mechanism (eg clutch) had to be placed within the box itself. Not like MT which is v straightfwd..
i think this also make MT boxes cheaper and easier to maintain and change in terms of failure.
Also can whack... For AT, if you whack a lot, advisable to install a ATF cooler.

i turn it anti clockwise and it came out quite easily..
issue is there is a spring that works with the knob cos of the reverse gear and am not sure if aftermarket knobs are compatible.
but hor, the knobs that i saw had their 'R' gear inscribed on the bottom right..not like Koup's one on the bottom left.

I am also wondering if there are any aftermarket manual gear knob for our rides. Or are we able to use the normal type of manual gear knob?
