Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
Hi People
Anybody find the Forte's reverse gear quite difficult to shift or maybe not used to it? Think some of you may face such problem due to maybe your previous ride's reverse gear is just normal shift down whereas for this, you need to use 2 fingers to lift up the collar den shift to first gear..
Always before i wana do reverse parking..i will position my car first den will need to take a while to engage the reverse gear..sometimes either it cannot be shifted or engage wrong gear..think if any car behind me, the driver will be impatient..keke

The lifting ledge is a safety feature which is commonly found in continental cars. Something new for a Korean ride. Have fun.

Concept is much better .
but of well , for forte , i'll get use to it AFTER i get the car

Ya..true..have to really get used to it..but i still prefer the original concept..much easier..once positioned car den immediately can shift down gear liao..this one have to change hand direction from normal way of placing the palm on the gear to just using 2 fingers to lift up the collar..

Re: Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
i also have some difficulty engaging reverse and gear 1. gear 2-5 all no prob. i dun think is my habit of engaging gear be cos whenever i go gear1 or reverse, i feel something blocking my gear stick from entering smoothly. sometimes i switch neutral and release clutch and step again also doesnt help, then kanna horn by behind. should i highlight to C&C during servicing?

Re: Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
I also encounter another problem..normally when i wana slow down..say approaching traffic light junction as it is red..i will engage neutral gear..when the light turns green and i wana shift to first gear..sometimes i'm unable to shift as if sumting is blocking..i hv to shift either 3rd or 4th gear before i can shift 1st gear so as to clear the blockage.. any bros or sis experiencing this as well?

normally u stop in which gear? 5th?
normally for me stopping for petrol engine, i'll usually stop in 3rd gear,
for diesel engine i'll stop in 4th gears.

Re: Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
my driving instructor tell me manual stop at 3rd gear and below or he will fail my section.

and also must use engine breaking...tish wrote:my driving instructor tell me manual stop at 3rd gear and below or he will fail my section.

Re: Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
4th gear stop will have engine knock earlier, so 3rd gear stopping is smooth... 2nd gear stop alot of engine brake, 1st gear will make the drivers around you laugh. But of coz can always clutch in earlier for the ideal stop

bro... this is not a gd practise...
if possible always brake in gears to utilise engine brake... not braking in free wheeling
u'll have better control.

bro try this: 1st time u clutch in, gear shift to gear 1 cannot. u release leg clutch and clutch in a few times, then try engage gear 1 again.
I use to do that when i cannot shift my gear to 1st gear at green light.

Re: Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
Unless you are moving at high speed, it's perfectly safe to juz go to neutral and use ur brakes to come to a complete halt.
Brake pads 40-200 bucks?
Clutch - $$$$$$$$$
but then again, where was the last time you ever change a clutch ...

Normally when i wana apparoach a junction..i will put it to neutral gear to stop..meaning free-wheeling..

Okok bro..i will try to use engine brake..like what i have learnt during driving..to stop at 3rd gear..just that my dad always stop using neutral gear..free wheeling..so i follow..

Re: Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
just repeating what the instructors said to me when i took my driving licences..... hehe.
but if u happen to free-wheel while approaching traffic light at highest gears,... u can try reving ur car, clutch-in and put to 1st gear... as in double clutching downshifting methods.

then i rather he just stop at 1,2 or 3rd gear lol...

Re: Reverse Gear for Manual Forte
gear 1 too extreme for stopping down at traffic light, plus your passenger will feel discomfort. Stopping with neutral gear for normal speed is not wrong(but only wrong in school of thought), and it will not cause unstable behaviour, unless you are stopping from very high speed or high speed e-brake then that will cause it or slowing down fast at a sharp bend.
