higher pitched engine sound Empty higher pitched engine sound

Post by tensai 2nd November 2009, 7:57 pm

Hi everyone! I just got my forte last Thursday and have been driving around a bit. But today, I noticed my car makes a higher pitched sound during revving. The sound is more noticeable in gear 1 and 2. Not sure if it was already there when I got the car, since I was too excited. Haha.

Anyway, the revving sound is higher pitch from the other cars I have been in, unlike the bassy rumbling sound I normally hear from other cars, as if the engine is working harder than normal. Its not sharp till ears hurt, so maybe I am just paranoid. But is it possible my engine has been destroyed by high revving? Does high revving during run-in of engine cause such a symptom?

Thanks in advance for your help, and yay at me being a true Forte-ian finally!

There was a time when some of the bros here had this side mirror problem right??

@ some speed, the wind "cuts" the side mirror and "causes" some kind of high pitched sound??

Not sure if that is the same thing you are experiencing.

I shall try again tomorrow morning and see if I can assign a note to the sound...haha. But is high pitched sound a sign of possible engine damage though? And would the engine be in warranty? I guess I can always wait for 1k servicing to highlight the problem...

Ya I did...hahaha thanks for asking though. The only concern I have is that because I am still not used to the clutch biting point, I tend to rev the engine high when attempting to start off. That's why I was wondering if that would have damaged the engine.

Dun worry... no one was born knowing how to run...

But in SGP... the more you are "scared"... the lesser you will "learn".

bro tensai, if yr car is a EX.....you may want to consider installing the bonnet sound insulation mat that the SX is currently having as stock item.......

IMO, it does help to lower the high pitch engine noise that you're hearing (assuming if there is nothing wrong with yr engine.....)

my one is 1.6EX manual..first time when i start driving, I always need to revv to 3000rpm before changing gear...scare stall....

actually 2500rpm is enough but still revving process will be quite loud.

now after my run in, my 1st gear 2500 to 3000, then 2nd to 4000rpm, 3rd also same if you wan to be sporty hahhah...

anyway, if given a chance, like to meet up bros who are driving manual as I got below problem that C&C say it is normal, but to driver it is very irritating.
