Re: Knock sound going over hump
CnC Service Centre replaced the front absorber damper on my ride as well. Now, there is no more sound when going over a hump. I'm officially de-registered from HKS club.
They mentioned to me that "all KCF" has this problem. It will be rectified by KIA Korea in future, but currently all the KCF in Singapore are members of HKS club. It's only up each of us if we raise it up or not.

Re: Knock sound going over hump
i'm only worried that the sound may not be so simple, could it be the spring was not a good design for forte, why do they need to install a damper to buffer off the sound.

sis here.. sharing acc with my hubby..
no road in particular.. but i realised before the knock problem is fixed, i cannot travel on a straight road without holding on the steering wheel, the swaying to left is pretty bad..
wow just imagine, if it has been fixed together with the knocking sound, the swaying must be caused by it too..
geez..

The Distance to Empty monitor is just for ur reference only, not to be taken literally.
Example
Suppose it states you got 100km left of distance fuel.
Situation 1
You rev hard and furious constanty hit 6krpm, race to every traffic light, tailgate everybody and brake alot plus a lot of city travel.
Situation 2
You rev gently and never go above 3krpm, roll/engine brake towards traffic lights, maintain good safety distance thus reducing brake frequencies
Assuming you spent the same amount of time peforming Situation 1 and 2. Surely by the time you check that Distance to Empty monitor again, it'll give different readings.

When I collected my ride, the technical advisor did show me the absorber damper that they replaced for me. Actually you can reach it and touch it with your hand. He explained to me that the default absorber damper was smaller and it was not well fitted for KCF.

yesh~ i have got the same reply from a mech oso.
so the new damper rubber is kinda bigger, which hold firmer than the smaller one.

Re: Knock sound going over hump
One thing I find it funny, by right there should be a recall for the hump knock sound by the dealer in SG. Seems to me that they will only change for owners who complain about it. If it has been recognised by Korea side, why no news about the recall ?

hmm...agree.
i happens to nearly every single fortes.

So if no recall means Korea side did not recognise the defect and local agent pay for solution ?

Re: Knock sound going over hump
I think manufacturer will only recall if the prob posed to b a safety hazard.

Re: Knock sound going over hump
For me, they only need to change my damper rubber or whatever its called. Its a bigger piece of rubber according to them and no more sound no matter how fast I run over the humps

Re: Knock sound going over hump
I also hear the sound ever since the first day i collect my 1.6 SX. Is it because of the absorber? Seems like a lot of forte will this pro. Will tell the mechanic with i go for my first servicing.

Re: Knock sound going over hump
I went to get it fix this morning @ Leng Kee C&C.
Sent in at 7.45am and I called several times to check (thinking it was probably a 2-hour job) and finally was asked to collect vehicle at 4.30pm. Nobody explain to me what was done and I took a torch light and shined thru all 4 wheels and can't detect any diff.
I really don't know why it took so long. The last call I made, the guy was telling me, some alignments needs to be done. Probably because when I sent in, I told the guy 2 things. The knocking sound and car tends to steer left. I read in this forum, somebody before fixing the knocking issue, also have this problem.
When I travelled KPE for the last few days, my car seemed to steered to left.
So far, I didn't hear the knocking. But I didn't go thru many humps either.

I think it is not in the wheel, but rather above it. Should be together with the suspension, its not huge so don't think it can be spotted tat easily using a torch. Trsut the guys lah, as long as no sound means ok, if not, 5000km go rectify again.

Re: Knock sound going over hump
Dear Bro/Sis,
I'd my ride fixed for the hump knocking sound & steering clicking sound after two weeks done my 1k servicing. Now seems no more sound going over hump but the steering for my ride(EX) seems tighter n heavier...maybe it is normal. One good thing is this service for fixing problems is free and got FOC car wash

Re: Knock sound going over hump
AFAIK, as told by the Technical Associate at KIA is that the design issue for the suspension is resolved only for vehicles assembled from July 2009 onwards.
So if your hasn't acted up yet. Get the problematic part replaced first before it does.

Hey... Anyone got notice that this applies to the rear suspension as well? Seems like on hitting bumpy road got some loose sound from suspension area like metal knocking lightly against something and vibrating....

Re: Knock sound going over hump
I got both front & back rectified during my last servicing. The back knocking sound not so frequent and obvious as compared to the front. Nevertheless, still ask them to rectify since it's free. I think they change suspensions cos after tat, feel tat the suspensions are stiffer which is gd
