How to avoid dents....... Where possible, do not park between cars. Choose corner lots and if possible your driver side should be beside the pax side of the car next to you, this especially so if you park at office. Do not park at a lot where either side of your car is a path leading to/from a pedestrain walkway. Someone walking through may accidentally scratch your car with his watch while strolling through.
These are some pointers, any more?

As far as possible, avoid parking besides vans.
If you got dents or paint chip-offs above the front wheel arch it's caused by them. Got a pair from both sides the first week i collect my Forte.

Talking about dents, my mum in law wants to talk to me so I wind down my window.....and............................she opened her car door instead of winding down her window! Knock liao den she closed her door and wind her window down and say "NEW YEAR DRIVE CAREFULLY HOR!". My wife was like "OMG" while I chuckled away over the incident.
So far not one year already got few dents
1) From mum in law as above
2) From a white civic - young kids loves to swing doors wide open but ok lah...the dad offers to pay but I let it go anyways.
3) Door handle area many scratches from cats using the handle as leverage to climb up the car
From experience, dents n scratches will accumulate over time no matter how well one take care of their car. If there's no COE, I would probably have the dents/scratches fix once they accumulate enough...but since typical car ownership for me is about 2-5years....don't bother. That's just me lah.

to illustrate the above, this was how I parked this morning at the office.... my car pax side is at the pillar.... no chance of getting dents... the car beside me is parked with pax door to my driver's door.... for office workers, it is not unusual for them to drive to office alone and leave alone, so the chances of the pax side door being opened is less.... there is therefore less chance of geting dents on my driver's door, ...... you can see that the lot beside the other car is empty, which I delibrately avoided parking into, even though it would give me a wide space to open my door....

Re: Gifts (Door knock) recevied during chinese new year
Good advice..thx..
But there is only so much we can do.... still learning to let go.. i find our forte skin is prob.. too thin.. by standard..(design to cut weight? cost? i donno), but these should not affect its safety standard.
To add.. avoid all company cars / lorry / van etc etc..
some carparks (esp old one) should be avoided whenever possible due to its super tight lot size.
Thanks.
