Simple and cheap(perhaps even free) solution? Strip a ring magnet off a discarded stock speaker INTACT and attach to the bottom of your oil filter. Just remember to remove it before you go for your servicing when you hand over your keys to the customer service member...

Does it mean that we have to crawl under the car and put the magnet under the oil tank ??
Have you done it for your own car, any photo, care to share

used a magnet fr your hard disk ,parked your car on an incline (multi storey Cr pk) and u could accesss your oil fiter easily but ensure that the engine is cold else jus wear gloves. Do remind the C&C mechanic that u need the magnet when u do yor servicing cos mind was thrown away w/o my knowledge.

Go to this page... DIY Filter Magnets from broken hard disk drives...
Press Ctrl+F. Type in "magnetised". Then see "Doing it yourself".

i was reading the carbible thingy on the DIY. If we remove it when we go servicing, wont it all the metal particles get sucked back to our engine then?
"I thought it worth pointing out here what a potential disaster awaits the home tinkerer if you just grab any old magnet and stick it on the outside of your oil filter.... Well, come the end of the filters life, just as the magnet is weakening and the collection of metal particles is at it's highest, one good jolt and it could dislodge, and a large collection of metal shavings and filings could detach from the inside of the filter and find its way back into your engine all in one go. That would be bad. So as much as you might like the magnetic photo of granny and the giraffe from Whipsnade zoo to be stuck in a filthy oily place on your car, don't do it. "
removing the magnet or it dropping by the end of its lifecycle sounds like it has the same danger..
