Just Ordered a Forte

I just ordered my forte and now waiting for my SE to bid for the COE in the next round (i think should be next monday)

I heard he says need to wait until end of May before the car arrives...

Meanwhile any other things to look out or anything else to do...?

congratz... Which model did you book. I'm also first time buyer booked starting of March told only ready by April or May for my Spicy Red EX but... Collecting my car tomolo Liao.... Hehe... I can't wait too...

If the forte you had book is EX model, then you will be quite fast to get it, provided you managed to get the COE. Please take note next round COE will be quite tough in the sense the quote is cut by 25%. So imagine not only kia, there will be others competitors such as honda, toyota where their profit margin is much higher willing to upbid for their customer highers....

I just check mine SX model, my SE have given my queue number for reference which he told me KIA dispatch new car orders according to the queue.. I belong to the 4th batch... This time round is 3rd batch. My queue number is 4XX... and KIA already sold up to almost 1000 units. So for those SX, u still had to wait for quite some time ba.

Oh no...... i ordered 1.6SX too... meaning got to wait 2 months plus for the car (end of may)

I agree this time round the COE bidding will be competitive due to the 25% cut... and I dun think my SE will bid very high leh.... should be ard 1k more..... i expect the COE to shoot up... but nevertheless, since the car will arrive so late... go for a few rounds shouldn't be a problem right? (I hope....)

By the way, the SE will continue to bid for the COE until we get it right? (max 6 times) Any instances with they try to play punk eh?

I heard he mentioned about open category if cannot get the category A one... Any difference?

Yes.. you are given the 6 tries option... but in any case they cannot afford to lose a customer like you, they will eventually try out the open cat... No much difference except that if open coe is only 3 months, meaning you had to get your car within 3 months. And one more thing to take note if you decided to de-register your car before COE then you will need to know this...

For vehicles registered using Category E ("Open" Category) COEs, the rebate will be based on the Quota Premium of either the Category E ("Open" Category), or its corresponding category (Cat A or Cat B for example), from the same tender exercise, whichever is lower.

In short, it mean your open cat COE value will not follow the price which you had buy at that time but rather follow whichever is lower for your car category at that point of time tender excercise..

Example

Your car is 1.6L... 10 yr OPEN COE.
Cat A: $2
Open Cat: $5000

You need to pay $5000 for your CAR COE and down the road, say 36 months... you decided to de-registered... the amount of COE rebate will be

= [$2 x 84 months (un-used) ] / 120 = $1.40

If your car managed to get CAT A, let say $5000

So your COE rebate will be the same condition:

= [$5000 x 84] /120 = $3500 (illustration only)

So those who had bought their car at $2 COE, we will consider this car with no paper value except the car itself omv but at least they bought their car much cheaper.. So you make the judgement call which is better...

So actually, we just hope that the SE will bid for a high COE so that we will benefit in the end since the car sold is the price stated on the order form ?

Ya.. in general you can look in this view... But a higher COE will dampen your chances of getting the bid successfully as their profit margin will be cut much lower as compared to other jap brand.

I ordered a 1.6 SX auto but I change to Manual instead. SE was nice enough to accomodate the change with no admin fee charge.

Made a call to one of the showroom and check if I was to purchase with guaranteed COE how soon can i get the car? I was told by a SE that no need waste money to get guaranteed COE...they will bid for you...Is it better ? I mean if guaranteed it would have save the hassle of waiting for the bidding right?

Ya.. guarantee COE doesn't mean your car will reach here faster... You still had to wait for it..

Mine is a bidded COE n got it at $5k. SE told me 3 colours is hot on menu. mine is metal br 8) nze and e other two is titanium silver n light graphite. Pray hard hopefully my ride come early.

in fact i was told the boss got alot of coe on his hands, even if u take 6 bid none gurantee, u will still get the car around this time. If u get gurantee, the agent will ask for u $2k discount from his boss. All these quoted by lengkee by other agent, coz i went there alot of times.

I tot white was also part of the favorite choice of colors.... coz also must wait until june/july....

When you place your booking? Any deposits or zero downpayment?

i believe all booking must have deposit, 1k standard. But if u really low on cash, i think they can lower a bit if u really explain alot until they sian

I placed my booking last sunday at ubi. $2100 downpayment.
Loan wise, hopefully my SE can get my 1 year loan the green light without the $1500 penalty.

1 year loan total interest is 6xx compare to 5 year total interest 3xxx. Must squeeze every cent out of every deal haha

i save alot of $$$ during past 10 yrs, but last yr also just blow away. How i wish i blow it on my forte

Failed 6 times is very rare, if that's the case, they will refund u the booking fee.

they will also try for open category one lah..... so more or less will get..

I have heard there are cases where we need to top up the COE? So where does this come in?

So have you decide which model to take? The EX or the SX model.

For EX, there is simply of lot of freebies you can get, see how power your sweet talk can be. You can try getting the reverse sensor, solar films for your windows, car mats or petrol voucher duno about the leather seat cos I tink it comes with it.

As for SE, noting much cos most of the specs follows the 2L Forte. What you try to get is solar films and try hard for leather seats.

and SX is the better model which got leather seats.. so for SX can only get solar films.. whereas EX ( cheaper one) can get more stuffs???
