Post by dEXTER C 11th January 2010, 2:46 pm

Dear Mr Chew,

Thank you for your enquiry via our e-mail dated 10th January 2010.

With regard to your concerns, we are aware that there are many such gudgets available in the after market and most of the manufacturers do have their claims with their products. However, all these products are not tested by our principal and as such, Kia Motors Corporation - KMC is not in the position to make any comments.

Being the case, KMC is not prepared to authorise any of their distributors to carryout such installation. In addition, customers are not allowed to carryout such installation, failing which , KMC will consider voiding the warranty for that vehicle. Therefore, we seek all our customers' careful consideration over this matter.

Once again thank you for allowing us to share this information with you and wish you happy motoring!

Yours Sincerely,

First 10k use mineral oil, change twice. Cos Mineral oil chg every 5K.
After that all the way syn oil. Min can last 10K.

That was i did to my car previously.

If you use syn oil now (5-6K mileage) +10K
You will be doing your next servicing at intervals of 15K, 25K, 35K instead of the usual 10K, 20K, 30K. (of course nothing wrong, up to individual preference)

Unless you intend to "waste" your syn oil by using it for 5K. And do your servicing at 10K.

Stock condition is the best lor and always go back to C&C for servicing. If want to mod then forget about going back to C&C for servicing lor.

C&C is screwed up la. i asked them this:

"If i change my air filter to cold air intake filter by Silent, will the servicing still cover the cleaning of the Silent air filter?

Also, if i change to a lowering spring but still keep the shock absorber stock, will my warranty be valid, & the servicing still carry on as per normal?"

Their reply is identical to that of Dexter's!

I sent a 2nd feedback. & Wayne Chan called me back. He said that the servicing crew will only blow clean the Air filter if it is't stock. No chemical cleaning will be done.

i really considering whether to go back to C&c for servicing..

Borneo motors no problems. Did servicing outside, claimed warranty within first 3 years. KPKB a bit but still managed to claim my warranty.

what i know is installation of accessories that doesn't modify the engine such as ECU etc will not void the warranty. During my ownership of Mit Air Trek Turbo, I have been sending in to C&C for regular servicing, even being advise by my regular workshop. I assume that will be C&C policy but maybe can check with the SE to confirm. The rationale is for C&C to earn the maintenance biz..
