Weird Sound at low speed..

Hi, All

Just to check if anyone come across of a weird krrrrkkkk sound when travelling low speed like from 0~40kmh?
been hearing this sound Occasionally but can feel like not 100% of power get to the wheels..

Quite worry actually... cos still some time from my 3rd svc..so thinking if i should go CC for a check..

no havent heard this...
is it always or sometimes only?

Is ur forte a Manual one? Cox if it is, it means u never engage ur gears properly and fully.

im driving a 1.6 EX auto. at low speed, can hear engine sound and krrrkkk krrrkkkkk krrrkkkkk. sound like metal hitting against metal like dat

i also heard it sometimes, still monitoring. will let C&C check if it happens too often.

anyone got any clue what is the cause?

i realise not every time... but occasionally... esp after run in (hot engine..) i drove the car at high speed (NSHW) and this sound become appearent... but in morning drive to office bo liao... i suspect something to do with ESC..but cannot pin point wor...

any help?

Think its gotta to do with my acceleration also.

sound appears only when my accelerator is pressed

Not sure if the grade of petrol or engine oil got to do with it.

does it happen everytime ur on low speed or just at the first time u use the car after parking (a long stop)?

when using caltex 98 dun seem to hear the sound lehz.

recently changed to 95 and added power atom Z den start hearing.

everytime low speed not just from parking

think so only at low speed.. v.obvious..esp after long day start - stop trip. (hot engine?)
at higher speed the pitch seems to disappear...

personally not use 98 yet.. but think 92/95 all same...

could it be the brakes.... somehow it "sticks" more than needed?

oh... just to update, had car checked at LK as fri, tech say they run engine diagnose no issue wor, and test drive says no prob.. (too bad i got to go mtg after dropping car) == no solution yet. then says next visit i do test drive the them...

I think u r refering to the engine 'pinking/knocking' noise, it happen when u r in low engine rpm and more when going up the slope.

Can it be spark plug related issue?

Sometimes I drive bare footed. When I step on the accelerator, I would feel slight vibrations from the pedal a well.

yeah i also feel it abit lah .... sian is it normal

mine is something like a rattling sound (like shaking a empty drink containing coins) from the steering column...

But i can tell u that low octane petrol is the highest cause.
BTW IF ur car is not turbo-charge not much will happen to ur engine.

Dont think its the octane issue. Managed to get some clue of the problem n its spark plug related issue. Will post the write up later.

normally, idles smoothly and runs okay under light load, but misfires

hi, still observing, its seems fine now but at times car could feel is very underpower.. i donno what have they done to the car in their diagnostic setup... will uppost again...

i thought i am the only one hearing that sound. been hearing that sound on and off after switching to RON(92) fuel

our handbook actually did say that optimal performance for forte will be using RON95 but RON 92 still usable.

Currently i am switching between 95 and 97 but still hear this sound.

Should be the spark plug or the wires issue, engine compression checks only tells you the pressure of the engine and piston related, C&C forgot or don't want to check the spark plug area which might just relate to the problem.

Anyway there is a GB for spark plugs now.

Sad to say.. yesterday nite.. start to feel the sound again.. i am using shell 95.. btw. and car feel underpower all the way.. slow respond too..

mine not exactly kok kok.. but krrrrkkkkk like wor..haa..
think will have to visit LK soon. now ECM seems got issue too..haa..

I tink i have that problem too...erm..like just nw i parked my car on an upslope, mine's manual..when i wana move off at first gear..in order to prevent my car from rolling back, i revved quite hard and that metal sound appeared! This sound also can be heard when the car has not enuff power (liek wana engine stall like that) when travelling upslope..

Wonder is that normal or not..think there's sumting to do with the gear leh..

think they did something to your ECU to make your engine less fierce, then your kok kok sound will minimized but now things seems to be the same. C&C will have to check spark plug related issues like wire and spark plug and not engine compression, hehe, either their knowledge is very limited or they simply wait until 10k then charge us one time jia lat jia lat.....

After this week driving. finding my new tuned engine like !$%@%^ , going back to complain on 2nd service soon.
Also just to update, i think i found the sound comes from A/c, cos just the otherday as i could feel the sound again then as i switch of the a/c (air still blowing..) then sudd.. the feeling of that coarse vibration dissappear!.. (for that once) will try to update again...

Heard from another workshop its fuel related

I told him abt the sound, he immediate asked if i used 95 fuel. lol. He said if i use 98 fuel, the sound will disappear. indeed it disappeared since my last refuelling.

On a side note, things added to my ride:
K&N Filter
Pivot Voltage Stabiliser
Brisk iridium spark plugs

All the above items added to my car only makes it feel more responsive and powerful. BUT does not remove the sound

Hi, there.. just these 2 days pay more attention to the sound.. it seems with a/c off the sound dissapear too.. been testing for a few days.. wondering if its cause by freezing ice on compressor? worrying..

does this sound goes off after u turn off the engine?

yup.. pretty sure not from engine to me... cos.. only when you start moving.. then this thing comes in..
its A/c for some GB / shaft related issue.. pretty sianz.. now... FC is terrible! too..

i have the same issue with my car >>>> engine vibrate, and Pinging Noise when accelarote espicaly when A/C is working and all thats its because the octan Degree in the Gasolain, i changed the Spark Plug to get better burning inside then engine but nothing Changed try to change the Air Filter as my Mechanic Advise me and also nothing Changed until i used an Octane Booster, its reslove all these Problems and the Engine become more smoother but still have a little vibration hard to notice it and no Pinging Noise however i drive.
i used Abro Octane Bosster and get better engine performance.
so my advise to all friends who they have this kind of Problems to used a Good octane Booster and see if they will gonna see any Different with their Cars.

Just to update all, just back from cc 10K servicing, results;
1. Engine say normal.. ?? no error code, but they claim nothing done, but i can feel they retune ecu, now car behaves differently. FC increase greatly just ysterday done 150km and manage at 6.8l/100km!! i am sure they did something..

2. for the krrrrking sound, they say its the a/c compressor flaps running so its normal and can't do anything.. haiz.. now they say something. haa.

3. steering, they say its normal.. but i think i cant feel the weight increase anymore during high speed (100kmh or so..)..

i asked for reports think so they included that with my invoice. i ll see if i ll uppost later..

no sure is it related to petrol issue... 92

seems like some electrical problem, causing the car to not have enough electricity for all its normal functions... the ac uses the most electricity, so when u off it more electricity can go to other parts... can't confirm until i see it though, just a hunch...

i test the Car Voltage yesterday and i found the Car voltage is around 14.1 V and after run the A/C + Full Light + Radio + Subwoofer and put the Transmission on Drive Mode the Voltage become 12.7 so i dont think 12.7 its not enough to run the Car.
the Stock Alternator + the Stock Battery is supplying enough power and buying the Voltage Stubilizer is just wasting money.

yes, i'm pretty sure the car is designed to run all its components properly... however, i'm suspecting some parts may be faulty thus not enough/inconsistent power is supplied now...
