Hi lukester, I like your these two shots, good angle for the Tokyo Tower and the creative close-up of
the ice frost with dripping water.

Oh kei66, you like China too, that is my favourite country for photogrphy.kei66 wrote:Here's mine to share..
China!
I like this human touch of yours, very natural and raw.
Here are two contributions from my file.
This one piece white jade Buddha was a gift from the Burmese Government and now being display in Shanghai 玉佛寺
a great masterpiece.

I choose this picture as the best of the lot, being a beach shot with a very wide horizon, you should maintain the horizon straight and at 1/3 or 2/3 height. Never put the horizon in the centre of the picture, its like the pic is being cut into half.
I think you caught this beautiful splashing waves pic with great patience.
I have this Labrador Park sunset to illustrate my point.

For all the contributions today, this NTUC building picture is a well composed night shot. The little moonlight (look alike) on the left side strikes me.
But you durian building picture I presume you have used a flash to highlight it, a bit hash at the front. If not this is a nice angle.

Sorry yeah. No photos to share but can I ask about cameras here?? :-)
Nikon D3000, including accessories - kit lens (18-55mm Vr Lens), 4G SD Card, Bag etc - selling at $950. Is it alrite?? :-)
Usually whats the price range like?? I have a friend who wanna sell. So I might consider if the price is not bad. :-)
I do apologize if I shouldnt be asking here. :-) But thought best place to ask since all the professional photographers are all in here. :-)

This camera don't have much function, like live view and no doubt it is fairy new, just launch in July this year.
How about bargain with your friend for $850, because normally the kit lens is of a poorer quality. Some buyer
just want to sell the kit lens for $150 when its new or just buy the body only.

You're right, picture taken through a window with the reflection from the other side, good experience guessing
You moon shot was a very lucky one with the full moon.

Well that depends on you general usage and how often you use it and might be you can use it in your daily site work.
I am neither a newbie or a amateur but I use a very simple and functional point and shot (PnS) $470 Fuji Camera to do all my
general design works.
Just to prove my point, here's one macro shot of the Water Lily taken at the HortPark few weeks ago and this is as good as any DSLR camera photo. This pic was taken hand held and no tripod involved at F12 and 1/200 sec.

I'm actually looking at the Canon 500D... Wondering if is worth to buy or its precedessor the Canon 450D.
Having been waiting for the price to jump off the cliff but they seem to be floating in space instead. Bummer...
What do you think, Andi? Wait forever or look elsewhere.... I do have the Nikon 501 which was a good investment for the film based shoots... very clear photos....

Hi ace, before you commit with the Canon 500D, please have a look at the review at this link.

Re: Share your photos here
if dpreview sounds too complicated, you may visit dcresource.com
currently, for beginner DSLRs, you have Canon 500D and Nikon D3000. i don't recommend sony, olympus, etc...
Nikon D3000: http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/nikon/d3000-review
btw, just notice how oudated my D40 is when compared to the D3000...

Juan I think it's try n try. That's why digital cam are good for. Very forgiveable to make mistake and try again.

Re: Share your photos here
second with lukester, no need for photography course. just take your camera and snap shoot again and again until your skills are refined. although it may take several years to reach salvation, the patience is overall rewarding.

supermacro mode.
Hey bro wrong man, your this product shots is not super macro mode, your standard kit lens
cannot achieve a super macro shots. You need attachment lens to do super macro pics.
Here are two example of macro mode pics.
This pic of the Lotus flower was taken by me in macro mode 1cm close-up
This pic of the house fly was taken in super macro mode by excelglsi of SGSHOOT forum

luster, If I were be you, I will keep the Panasonic LX.. camera, with very sharp Leica Lens and carry on taking more pics and made full use out of it.
PS. for your info the house fly pic was taken with a Panasonic LZ3 with the Renox close-up attachment (cost $230)
