Sudden Jammed brake, Vehicle stop by 10 secs travelling in just 70km/h. Will it cause the brake pads wear instantly?

Dear Fellow Forte Owners,

recently there's alot of inconsiderate drivers cutting 4 lanes and make a U turn suddenly, making me to jam my brake so hard for 2-3 times in a wk man.

I tink i better drive slower than 60km/hr..

Btw need some of you guys experties.

Normally how long will the brake pads take to wear off? Normal Daily Braking? Jammed Brake Freq (5times per mth)?

When will I know when to change it?

If brake pads wear off so easily... die lor...

My previous ride... 2-3 years only changed 1 time.

Hahaha!! If you dun drive up and down Genting that often, think should be able to last you at least 4 yrs. But to be safe, think change every 2 years the best. :-)

Drive defensively and anticipate what others might do instead of reacting to what they do.

If example...u approach U turn...if u anticipate that bugger might just BOOMz out, u will slow or change lane....instead of driving hard and fast expecting to HAVE RIGHT OF WAY...and JAM ur brakes when the bugger decides to BOOMz U.

Heck...everybody thinks they react fast so driving defensively and anticipation is only for uncles like me.

most of the taxi drivers are uncles.... and they dun drive defensively....

Not to mention nowadays many of us park at MSCP. Brake pad will wear off easier too.

Actually, if you notice... there is alot of black dust on the slopes of these MSCP... these are brake dust...

Here is a benefit of using manual, I usually shift to 1st for slowing down the MSCP slope, albeit the extra hand and leg movement...

maybe the same reason why the leftmost lane in the hi-way are mostly dark.... covered with brakedust....
