Speed Camera ? (Tampines Road - KPE - TPE slip road)

This morning was travelling to Changi Airport via Tampines Road - KPE - TPE at about 0545 hrs.
I was driving at 80km/h along KPE (2 lane) slip road to join TPE, i saw a sign board saying "Camera Zone" and Speed limit of 50km/h but did not slow down.

While joining TPE, i saw alot of flashing lights in the dark skies. On entering TPE, i looked up and actually saw those flashing lights are actually cameras ! They looked something like flashing CCTV cameras.

Anyone knows if that area really has speed camera ?

If they are flashing, they should be cameras. :-)

Hey Pessimizt, i am not sure if i get the area correct here.

The area u are referring to is near the back of Paya Lebar Air Base? it might be the lights that are fixed just next to the expressway TPE. The lights are to guild the planes taking off/landing to PLAB.

These lights are after Pasir Ris, and before Sengkang.

i saw them flashing this morning bout 5.35am..

Red area is where i saw the "Camera Zone" and speed limit of 50km/h sign.

Blue area is where i see the flashing lights while spiralling down to join TPE. It was very dark and i couldnt make out what are those flashing light. But when i almost reach the entrance of TPE, i think i saw something like those CCTV cameras and its flashing.

I just passed by there on yesterday (Monday) morning.
Still dont know if will kena their 'welcome' letter.

Going to pass by there again on Thursday night. Gonna drive at speed limit man.........(not just there.....but everywhere !)

I also just stepped slightly higher at 80+ in the tunnel forgetting it was KPE i was in.... just before the filter out to PIE. Dunno there got any camera taking my xiao bai's pic or not.... Kenna road hogged by 3 huge vehicles until i pek chek and just stepped forgetting i no longer drive a 1 litre car. Lol...

normally, I say normally, ... speed cam whether fixed or mobile have an allowance of +15km/h.... so if speed limit is 70 km/h, no need to smile for cam as it won't snap.... only above 85km/h that you need to smile for the cam....

anyways, using GPS speed, comparing to my speedometer, i found that speed on meter show average of 5 km/h above speed calculated by GPS. this is true for both the cars I drive.....

just for info... don't blame me if you get a ticket please.....

I thought speed gauge is so-call 10%+10% (heard from a taxi driver before). Dont know how true and reliable.

Meaning if speed limit is 70km/h. The actual speed that it will capture is actually:

(70 x 1.1) x 1.1 = 84.7km/h

About the same as kapitan's theory.

But for 80km/h or 90km/h will not be the same:

(80 x 1.1) x 1.1 = 96.8km/h
(90 x 1.1) x 1.1 = 108.9km/h

Please dont try these speed at camera zones. If you happen to try, please let me know if you kena ticket.

Heard of that allowance also, but KPE touted their camera is laser and pin point accuracy lol Dun want to test them =x. GPS speed wise, mine is also slightly slower compared to actual speedo but might be due to the lag in feedback from the satelite.

I usually travel about 75 to 78km/h along KPE when its not crowded. So far so good.

Have to admit KPE is very "leisure" to drive in but sometimes alittle too comfy.... Dun fall asleep can already.

I totally agree!! Going at speed limit in KPE is like a lullaby!! Really feel like falling asleep. Hahaha!! :-)

I always wonder why governments do not limit the speed of the cars?? :-)

Take Forte for example. Car original max speed about say 180km/h?? Why doesnt spore govt or LTA invent this device that will restrict the car to only travel at a top speed of 90km/h?? You know, since the fastest speed limit anywhere in spore is 90km/h?? :-)

Msia better still!! They make their own cars!! Why make it such that the cars can travel so much faster when max speed limit is 110km/h?? Hahaha!! Should restrict all cars to 110km/h, except maybe for those meant for export or for whatever other purpose. :-)

All just wanna make money!! Spore thru fines when we are caught speeding. Msia thru fines plus bribes. Hahaha!! :-)

yeah.. think KPE is really v.hard to drive.... feel like taking forever to end,
Maybe is for us to appreciate how long the tunnel is?

i always take Lane 1 when driving in KPE.. speed 80km/h. So far so good.

My good friend told me tat anything lower than 85km/h is ok cos he tio photoshoot before at 85km/h.. hahaha
