Rainbow effect on solar film...

Anyone having this problem with their films?

Specially... Rikecool

If so... what did you do or what needs to be done to get rid of them?

i think is normal. mine also have this effect. is the light being defllected by the solar film which causes this. only visible from outside the car right? dun think it is a problem.

Coz when I collected my car, my SE told me that that effect will go away after a couple of days... but now almost 1 month liow still there...

havent seen this.... maybe becos i go home late ... so no sun amymore and go off early ... so no sun yet...must check...

had tried to go to rikel cool, they claim that the film they use are like tat and they change it for me but still the same. the kind of film they use is like tat its normal but can ask them to darken it for free.

seems like tish mentioned this before in his tish's white expose thread? maybe can check out his thread...

How to darken other than to change the film?

Also wouldn't that fail the "light emitting" test?

Juz told by my SE to go to Rikecool to check...

Did not notice any. My previous car oso using Rikecool.

they wont change the film but you can request to darken the rear and back windows. but still able to see the rainbow colour thingy......

where got rainbow effect? The front? Hmm... Dun rmb seeing any wor.

Mine also have.

But when I look at the other cars, they don't have that rainbow effect.

I think it should be related to the type of solar film applied on the car.

not the front but the door windows.......front and rear is fine.

yup...saw the rainbow effect on some of the fortes on the road...but not sure which brand of solar films are used.

This is a defect. Poor grade solar film will reflect rainbow colour due to the oil use to make the solar film unevenly spread. Don't get bluff by the Rikecool boss. Ask him to replace you with good quaity film. They sell C&C KIA very cheap so must resort to give the people less quality film...

It's oil that caused that rainbow effect.

is it true tat its the material......the shop itself got sample to show under the lights. go check out and you will find out more.

unless you want to spend more $$$.....then change it, its not tat obvious afterall most importantly its free.......

Free?? Does that mean that it's ok to be defective?

They should replace it?

else, it's nothing more than hard sell... giving you something that's defective and then forcing you to buy something else from them...

Did you know that other film makers charge for removing the old film and cleaning the glass?

What are they going to say if the freebies were one of the reasons why I purchased this car?

They showed you the low grade one so got rainbow colour. Premier 28/Premier 85 is just a name. Don't be trick to upgrade to Platinum 50 too. Stick to Premier 28... They can choose to use higher (more expensive) or lower (cheap) material. All you need to do is tell them you don't want rainbow effect one and insist they give you normal Premier 28 grade solar film. No need to top up one...

Die so all our or mostly forte car will come with cheap solar flim am i wrong?

no point for us to verdict by everyone opinion when no one actually replaced with a new set with no rainbow effect.

Mine is not Rikecool. It's Thermalguard. It also has the rainbow effect.

my thermalguard platinum series also has e rainbow effect... call them up but they say its normal..

My brother's new Toyota Picnic installed 3M solar film in Jun 09 (pay $490 after subsidized by Borneo Motor) no rainbow... Only low grade solar film got rainbow.

hmm...guess its up to individual......the effect doesn;t really bother me much.....

Yup, i think mine also has this 'special effect' but did not bother about it unitl you guys mentioned.

Since so many other Forte drivers have the same 'effect', i dont think its a defect. So is it really a film quality issue ?

because my bro in law has Vkool on his Civic..which is the premium grade 1.. i also see rainbow effect from outside of the car.

anyway.. bros seeing this.. dun get too perturbed by it. enjoy ur ride.

i heard its the metallic core materials that is causing this effect.. those dun probably based on ceramic or something i think...

They told me the same thing... then I asked them... ok... then why one side have and the other side don't??

They changed the side with rainbow effect for me.

Great service.

Customer's lounge is kind boring... should have gone to Autobacs to shop instead.

Mine also rear, looks like common problem. So they willi change it because of the rainbow effect?

lucky for me i ask to deduct off the solar film. cause im going to fix up another brand.

But on thing that the warranty covers as well...

So if there are tiny bubbles between the films... go have them replaced.

Coz, I was told that now a days...
Some of our cars are fitted @ the collection center!

So am not sure if the films are fitted @ these dust free air con environment any more...

how to simulate the rainbow?

Was told by TintSysCool boss that Rainbow effect is due to the type of compound used in the film... Basically, there are 2 types of compound used, Metallic and Ceramic...

Film which uses metallic compound will result in more obvious rainbow effect compare with ceramic-based film... The rainbow is observed from outside the car and has no visual impact to the driver... Note that you will also see rainbow effect on ceramic-based film but it is much less obvious...

One more thing of interest, metallic-based film may affect electromagnetic signal, ie ERP, as experienced by a bro here... Dunno if its true that they will cut a hole in the film to resolve this...

under what conditions rainbow will show? i dunno if am lucky or just that i have not been in the right situation.

Just park car under sun or lights and stand at the side of the car...
u will see colour streaks on the film...

Its a natural effect from the dispersion on reflected light...

Sometime can see it better under florescent tube light...
