Drive to KL with a week old Forte?
Bros,
I have to attend a function in KL this weekend. I thought of driving up north with my week old Forte..is it a wise decision?
I know that i shouldnt hit more than 30000rpm...but is there any other concern besides that?

can but don't go past 3000rpm. best is to keep below 100km/h.

Re: Drive to KL with a week old Forte?
besides getting car jacked, you're quite safe!
don't do silly things for now bro, you can't rev above 3k, so you got effectively no power to run from people who try to catch you.
take it slow and enjoy a bus ride. its not worth the heartache

Re: Drive to KL with a week old Forte?
Some people actually pay drivers to drive up and down from KL to "run in" le.
Why not?
Anyway, @ the final drive, 3k rpm is about 120km/h if I am not wrong.
Super time to run in.

Re: Drive to KL with a week old Forte?
Hahaha!! :-)
Little stone marks whats the difference now and later on?? Hahaha!! :-)
Anyways, personally I wouldnt drive up. Cos I wouldnt be able to endure the slow ride up. :-)
I think not reving more than 3k rpm, fastest you can reach is about 130plus km/h. I tried on spore road. :-)

How much your mileage now, just clock ur mileage then go for the first servicing. When I just got my car, clock the first thousand in a week or so afterwhich drove up to K.L ......... No problem.

Re: Drive to KL with a week old Forte?
yeah.. i think other then lock after alarm after lock, you should be safe.. personally i think 130kph is v.good liao... iirc. the manual says..
dun hold on to certain rpm for a long time. and it states 4k max..? so maybe challenging to do that.. though..

juz go ahead to do ur run-in.. coz I drove up and down M'sia even b4 I send it for my 1st 1000km servicing.. Anyway, I did a constant max of 120 - 140km/hr on the highway and the rev is abt 3000.. =) as long as u dun keep going on the same speed all the time, can liao..

Re: Drive to KL with a week old Forte?
Common myth about running in..
its not about staying in the top gear and wack all the way..(even maintain @ 3K rpm)
This only helping the engine to condition which in the manufacturing plant, they already had burn in process (similar to harddisk manufacturing process with 72hr running of the finish product b4 EOL to Backend packaging)
Engine + Gear box must run in together
its going thru the small road... truck road
Taking the opportunity to let all the different gear get engaged and have
even wearing out of the gear teeth. Thats call running in
If going up to highway wack......even @ constant speed under
Not a pretty good idea though..
i think Seth's suggestion is pretty good. Maybe try JB, Gelang Peta Town, Bukit Indah Town, Kulai (Yew Meng or Nasi lemak) etc

drive at safe speed.. 110km/h. running engine sure no problem. still within the recommended rpm.
The only danger is that you feel sleepy.
i go to malacca for my running. constant speed all the way (SX)

Bro!! Unless you go later and come back earlier, I wouldnt advise going thru the traffic jam!! And have to be careful to watch your speed. Sure plenty of cameras!! :-)
Anyways I cant. :-) Got wedding and a class gathering to go to. :-)
