Turn By Turn GPS iPhone App

Afternoon all,

Stumbled upon this Sygic site that is currently selling their proprietary Turn by Turn GPS application for the iPhone on iTunes.

The reviews seems good, especially one of them is saying the map is better than MapKing.

The cost itself is US$79.95 though.

Do you guys think it is a worthwhile investment, being an active iPhone user?

1) Map updates are NOT free.

2) Map based on Tele Atlas, yes the world leading map provider, but
their focus is not so much on Malaysia/Singapore.

3) Is your iPhone volume loud enough to hear? I think hearing is more important then looking at the map while driving.

4) iPhone 3GS is better cos got compass to help in navi. normal iPhone 3G not as good.

5) Takes up to 5 mins to lock gps if your car don't move. Pretty long
imho.

one thing I'm wondering is.. when you use the turn by turn map...
and while using it.. a call come in.. will it exist the program and go to the call screen???

Then if like that die la... cause when got call you dont know where to go..

You guys are right. After more read-up online, seems like once you have a call coming in, the application will close so to allow you to receive call. You will have to relaunch the application to start all over again.

Darn! Thought I can save some good money here

Thought of using iphone 3gs as gps too... but seems like it doesn't work out.

Guess we have to wait a little. There is another company (Navigon) that just launched their GPS app on iPhone.

In the coming months, Tom Tom will also be releasing a car kit to complement the iPhone 3G/3GS.

Patience is the key. Meanwhile, we should try not to get lost hehehe

I use google map. Good enuff.

In Sg, I know most roads roughly, so the google map is sufficient. Out of singapore, the turn by turn voice assistance is most useful. But can get annoying if you already know where you are and where you are going.

i'm using tomtom on my iphone 3G. Excellent if you are only driving in SG.. Nv been to MY on my forte, so not sure how is it like on the other side..

my iPhone GPS signal always very weak. Very fast will lose the signal.

Is it, you using which app?

after a while... signal will be lost. THen come back again... then lost. Very irritating.

Mine jailbroken, but should not make any difference mah

Oh, i didn't jail break mine.

I use to have your problem, but after i mount it on the windscreen using the suction holder, it's damn accurate now.
