Forte vs Avante

I have driven my friend's Avante on a few occasions and felt that Avante beats our Forte in a few areas :

1. Better ride comfort due to muti-link suspension
2. Lesser Engine noise due better sound insulation
3. Interior uses lesser hard plasticky material
4. Slighly better FC

But the Avante is begining to look dated and in urgent need of a face lift fast (juz like Zoe tay - exprience & proven but aging)....

On the other hand, Forte beats the Avante in the other areas :

1. Better looking inside and outside and should continue to look good for the next 3 yrs
2. Much much more features (Avante very bare compared to Forte)
3. Better value (Avante selling price may be lower but the car has much lower OMV)
4. More powerful engine (juz need to push a little hard to realise it)

Juz my view.....

What do you guys think about the Avante when comparing it to the Forte .......

true... but frankly speaking, we should compare the Forte with i30 instead as it is more newer than the Avante.

I drove my friend's new auto Avante (3mth old) and i realized that i can actually feel the gear change (especially so for 1st to 2nd). Does the auto Forte have such 'feeling' too ? Thought the SE mentioned that the Forte got the dont-know-what transmission that will reduce the 'feeling' when changing gears in auto.

I feel Avante is more spacious when sitting at rear seat. Maybe due to it height is taller than forte.
Avante has been SG since 2007. So engine is proven and more and less problem has resolve. Forte still have a long way to prove it.

bro pessimizt, the technology u meant is call CVT.. both forte and avante have the same technology.. when the car is new you wont feel the gear change but when the car gets older.. gear change can be feel aso.. depends on owner did change gearbox oil anot.

Avante are often used to compare with Forte and even talk abt better FC.. Avante FC naturally will be slightly better than Forte because of the lightweight.

I would say Forte got 1 winning point is the spacious.. 1 of the spacious area i like is the engine bay.. got plenty of space for me to free-play.. unlike avante is quite pack..

Space wise i find Avante slightly more spacious than Forte. I think Forte boot is also bigger than Avante.

Avante is a good ride but the overall look deter me from getting it....

Totally agreed, before forte was launched i keep telling myself theres no reason not to get avante given its price and specs but i just cant get pass the looks.

I think in sg its lidat, no matter how good the price and specs ppl still look at the looks of the car.

well, i think "the beauty lies in the eye of the beholder".
Because to me Avante looks also not bad (executive).
As for Forte it give me a feeling of more sporty and fierce look.
Just my thoughts.

F&N should buy the avante and have them painted with this logo.... they don't have to draw the curvy lines....

The coca-cola crease along the side of the avante reminds me of the ford cortina of the
60s. IMO, the styling of the avante appears outdated as compared to the Forte. When I first set eyes on the Forte, I was and still am, seduced by its styling.

dun think our Forte using CVT leh.....ours should be the 4 speed A/T....

Forte boot is bigger coz using the torsion beam suspension....

Avante is a good car, i believe previously not many car buyers interested in M.I.K car until this car came.
But view from certain angle, i feel it looks quite odd but dunno how to explain....until someone in mcf mention it look like a moving peanut.

Forte looks chio and having the same engine as avante.

me cannot tahan the antenna at the rear of Avante......look so dated.....was told it is not functional and juz dummy only (dun know why it is still there ? maybe can be used to hang kopi, dry under wear etc...)

but must agree with nocash that it is a good car......

better power yes (3 more horse power) but not better FC....

I30 also using GAMMA II.

Avante Full tank 53L can travel more than 600km. How about forte ?

Today a white avante park beside my white forte. No matter how i look it. Forte looks so much nicer!!! hahaha...

hmm.. i30 released the same year as avante and how can 1 be Gamma I and the other Gamma II.

To my knowledge, the engine just did minor change which slightly increase the hp. but nevertheless it is still Gamma in not much differences..

Do not hesitate so much.. since Forte is your choice.. just enjoy it ^^..

i ever travel 350km half a tank before.. constantly getting 13 - 13.8km/l so i think its good too!

IMHO, both are very much the same car......same boss & sharing same platform and using almost same engine.....

juz like brother......and Avante is the older brother of the two...

My next target is GOLF DSG R32!

Avante looks not really nice actually...nt as sporty as our Forte..seems like the more you see Avante..the more boring it gets..

Bro Fortec..me dun need Golf DSG R32 lah...i just aim VW Jetta for my next car will do...

Heard the Avante is in the process of getting a face lift and should arrive here end of the year......
