Anybody knows what is this for ?

Wonder whether this is the one C&C used to fix the "knocking" sound when going over a hump !!!

There are various sizes and all cost $65.

This is not what CnC use. This is to stiffen the spring. Used to have this on my previous car.

Why did u need to stiffen the spring ?

The spring ... not bouncy anymore.

The spring does the job cushioning between car and road....the shock absorbers are the ones that do the bounce to absorb the shock generate by the springs.

When u press ur car down and it bounces up n down more than once....time to change shock absorbers.

would you recommend to install this spring coil retainer ? front and/or back spring? that $65 for 1 pair or 2 pair ?

Spring coil retainer are meant to somewhat stiffen the spring for cars that are heavily loaded (e.g. CNG tank). But remember, when you increase the springrate without increasing the damping force of the shock absorbers, your car will effectively become a pogo fork.
