CNG for FORTE Empty CNG for FORTE

Post by jhuang 27th December 2009, 9:19 pm

Hi Bros, anyone of you have converted your car to a CNG forte? Couldn't find anyone with CNG forte around.

Thought of converting my un-registered SX FORTE 1.6A to CNG. Asked my SE regarding conversion but was told that they don't do for 1.6L and below. She mentioned that we can get some OMV rebate. According to www.cng.com.sg, its 40% rebate.
But my queries are:
1. Do I need to do the conversion before registering the vehicle to enjoy the rebate?
2. Will I get my rebate immediately when I register the vehicle? Or can I enjoy the rebate after registration?
3. Will C N C void the 5 year warranty?
4. If the road tax increases after the government removes the rebate, can I remove the CNG and will they demand back their 60% OMV?

Hope there are knowledgeable bros out there to help me on this! Thanks! CNG for FORTE Icon_biggrin

Not to mention the crazy weight of the tank... 35-kg+?!

Are the savings worth the compromised ride quality/safety/loss of boot space?

I'm sure the rear suspension has to be tweaked somewhat though the CNG installers aren't going to do it.

A link to a rather old circa 2005 ppt presentation on how the tanks are tested as well as some of the possible scenarios in which the tanks can be damaged unwittingly; mounting issues, wear and tear and etc... Also some case studies on how some tanks have survived or purged accordingly by design.

hi lwlty. looks like you are the only green forte here. called the installer just now and he says we cannot remove the tank if we have enjoyed this 40% rebate.
but how is your green forte running?
any problems like stalling, huge power difference, rear suspension problems?
and any advantages to share?
and how did you get the cng conversion process done?

thanks!

Actually to convert to CNG is only economical if you're travelling a lot. Maybe clocking SG-KL weekly that kind. Cos you have to take in the conversion cost of $3800 which translate into tens of thousands in km of travelling before you get ROI. After that then the savings begin. So if you're just like most people travel from home to office and weekend shopping, cheaper to stick with petrol. But if you want to help save the environment, that is another story Smile

For New car reg. worth lah cos can enjoy 40% Omv

forte 1.6 omv is 12k than take 40% = $4800 mean u still get 1k in pocket.

for me installed $3.5k = Cng kits +77L type II tank(not steel tank) + flashlube .
