mine is an EX(M) as well...
just curious, what is the fc you guys are getting for your 1.6M? i'm getting around 14.5km/l... just want to know is this low or is there still room for improvement. hehe
i'm driving about 40% city 60% highway.

low? Looks good already wor. I getting 13km/l still at run in phase. Just hit only 1200km only and not yet serviced... Tmrw then can go to servicing.

Re: Manual Drivers? come in so that I know how many manual cars still exist
i am also getting near to 15km/ltr or 720km per tank.. it really depends on ur driving pattern: how hard u accelerate and brake. usually running in phase still not so accurate as driving pattern still not so "harsh" to the car. howver, the FC still consider very good for a sedan weighing 1.3ton... also manual car is more fuel efficient

you guys getting very good FC leh....
I'm only getting about 12.5km/l and hardly ever get caught it a jam......
40% City, 60% highway with 16" rims.... mileage now 12K..... using syn oil..... K&N filter........
think i need to mod my right foot.....

Do this manually for 3 full tanks.
Top up full tank. Drive..... Empty then top up again
One cycle you can use the total mileage divided by the total fuel top up.
If you want to be "accurate" try to top up around the same time when then fuel empty light comes on.
Do for 3 cycles and get your average.
Just did my 2nd cycle but not accurate since only did not go servicing yet. But getting 12.8km/l thus far. Should improve after servicing.

why does servicing improve FC consumption?
what they do during servicing? I thought they just check here and there

Usually servicing includes oil change. And you should see some changes in your FC after the change.

ok bros manual here too.. i reckon if u dun accel abit when moving off and makes ur car shake.. that shake = engine knock. and engine knock is no good.
CVVT = Continious Varible Valve Timing, an equvelent of Vtec (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) )technology althou its a more inferior version it still produce quite a significant punch when u need all that power! only thing we dun have is the lift control.
my 2 cent =)

agreed. usually after servicing the fc should be better. it will be more accurate after 10km as it changes to synthetic oil esp. the car should feel more power. eg still in stock condition don compare to those chng here n there la....

usually pp switch from manual to auto. You may regret alittle cos it take awhile to get use to manual driving.
Anyway what switch to auto since you have been driving auto for few years liao?

Koup 1.6 Manual here. My other car is auto so purposely buy a stick shift to play wif as I last owned a manual car abt 10yrs ago.
Farny thing happened when i went to test drive the Koup manual. So used to auto that i forgot to step on the clutch when i tried to slot it into gear. Gearbox went....GRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Thot WTF is wrong wif the gearshift. Tried again.....GRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Until SE reminded me, "err...u forgot to step on the clutch". Haha....dem malu. So if anyone thinking of buying the 2.0 blue Koup manual demo car next time, dun say u haven't been warned hor....

Re: Manual Drivers? come in so that I know how many manual cars still exist
Top 8 reasons why real men drive manual | ||||||||
More and more Singaporeans are now favouring cars with automatic or semi-automatic transmissions. Even car dealers find it impractical to bring in manual transmission cars (where can we get a six-speed manual Golf GTI without indenting one?). It's a vicious cycle. But real men still drive manual cars, according to an AskMen.com article. A manual transmission is the ultimate in control The manual transmission is for the alpha male, the one holding the TV remote. Men would rather be the boss than the subordinate. A car with a manual transmission lets the driver be the boss of the car, says AskMen.com. Throttle response will always be immediate unlike some modern automatic boxes. We tend to agree. Having the ability to drive stick can make you sound like an authority on all things motoring when chatting to the fairer sex, even if you don't know what you're blabbering about. Unless your date is a motoring journalist. 6) You can't spell "manual" without "man" Our favourite reason among AskMen.com's top ten list. Manual transmission is man because you can't say one without saying the other. Try saying "manual" without first saying "man". Automatic boxes aren't considered cool and they have nicknames to go along with it. "Slushbox", for instance. "Flappy paddle gearboxes" just doesn't cut it as well. To AskMen.com, "nothing flappy will ever be manly." 5) Manual transmissions prove you can multi-task Society looks up to people who can multi-task complex motor movements. Just look at the guy who got famous by shaking his hands and legs in different directions. He got hired by Visa for their ads. Shifting a manual car is also quite complex. You have to release the accelerator with the right foot, depress the clutch with the left, use your right hand to select a different gear and then simultaneously release the clutch as you accelerate, hoping to engage clutch and throttle at that optimum rpm. 4) You can't drift in an auto Hmm. AskMen.com says drifting is the most extreme form of car control. Driving it sideways requires a massive set of, erm, courage, and a car with a manual transmission. A manual transmission is beneficial for drifting because you can keep the engine in the sweet spot of its powerband. Try it in an auto and watch the fun die as the transmission shifts up early and kills the power.
There'll be no more heel-toe technique in an automatic, considered to be the elite driving manoeuvre in the motor racing world, says AskMen.com. The heel-toe manoeuvre allows one to downshift, rev-match and brake all at once. The driver will operate the clutch normally with the left foot. The ball of the right foot will be on the brake, slowing the car down, while at the same time the right heel of the foot will "blip" the throttle during gear change. This will match engine speed to the wheel speed. Benefits? It keeps the engine in the desired powerband and reduces drivetrain jolt, greatly reducing wear and tear on the transmission. 2) Manual transmission cars are more fun Having control over your is advantageous. An engine performs best at a certain rpm range, the "sweet spot" so to speak. At the "sweet spot" the power curve generally gets more aggressive. With a manual car, says AskMen.com, you can find out exactly where this sweet spot is and keep the car there. But with an automatic, the car will most probably shift up before you hit the spot. 1) You'll never look bad if you can drive manual A friend lent you his car to drive because he's too drunk to get behind the wheel. And being the nice guy that you are, you'll send the ladies home too. Imagine the embarrassment you feel when you reach the car, only to find that it is a manual. Which you can't drive because you're lazy enough to take your driving test in an automatic car. Real men have never experienced such embarrassment. |

Re: Manual Drivers? come in so that I know how many manual cars still exist
One thing i encoutered. At 4th gear ard 2.5k RPM aka 60-70km/h, i hear rattling at the area where the ipod and usb console is. Once i up the gear to 5th then no sound. Only 4th gear and only at 2.5k and abv rpm. Anyone else encounter this?

Re: Manual Drivers? come in so that I know how many manual cars still exist
No rattling for my Forte 4th gear up to 80km/h. If yours have sound... it will be strange because the sound is speed sensitive...
liplip- Junior Member
Re: Manual Drivers? come in so that I know how many manual cars still exist
Tested. The rattling sound also comes during 3rd and 4th gear. But only when i not pressing the accelerator but RPM is abt 2.5k, meaning already hit 2.5k RPM at 3rd or 4th gear but lift your leg from accelerator to let your car move.
aural- Senior Member
Re: Manual Drivers? come in so that I know how many manual cars still exist
Guys, any comment on this theory while accelerating:
shift the 3rd gear @ 30km/h
shift the 4th gear @ 40km/h
shift the 5th gear @ 60km/h
shift the 3rd gear @ 30km/h
shift the 4th gear @ 40km/h
shift the 5th gear @ 60km/h

Depends all on your leg. Under power shift may take more energy. Optimum is ard 2.5k-3k rpm to change gear. The speed not too sure but slightly higher than what you mentioned.

Ok brought my xiao bai down. After test driven concluded something is wrong with the gear stick. Tmrw then bring in for servicing.

Those are the current speeds with which I shift gears. If I recall correctly, all those speeds are for the levels when RPM is about 2k.
For 1st gear, I will use 15km/h or higher, because at 10km/h the engine may tremble a little although still able pick up speed.
