Trembling Forte Empty Trembling Forte

Post by freemanuk 7th September 2009, 10:13 pm

Hi Folks, Just wanna do a quick check if any of you encountered this too. I was driving on CTE just now around 70-80km/h and suddenly my Forte (1.6 SX auto) started to tremble. I thought I had a flat tyre and I stopped at a chevron to check if it was really the case, but all tyres were alright. Then, I shut down my engine, restarted and tried to move on, then it was fine again. I am not sure what went wrong and I forgot to observe if any light indicator came on that time.

Well, I should have looked at the light indicator and the mystery may be solved then, but anyway now that I know the hand brake could be the reason, I will pay more attention on that. Thanks.

Is the trembling from the engine or the whole car ?

Are you on the outer left lane ? did you go over the thick road shoulder paint marking on the left ? If yes, it could be your ABS and it is normal....

It was from the engine. I have driven over the road shoulder paint marking before and I know that was due to uneven road, but what I just encountered was totally different. That was why my panic mode was activated.

I remember the hand brake light was off before I moved off, but not sure if I have fully release the hand brake. Maybe it could be triggered when I attained a certain speed, if what Terrier and Darksoul said was true about the hand brake issue.

A good way to tell if your handbrake fully released or not.

Always notice or feel the power of the car when you release the handbrake totally. Cos if not fully released, there is a little drag or more drag when you first start moving by stepping accelerator. :-)

Power/pickup also affected. :-)

I don't fell any draggy effect at all, until I reached CTE at the speed of 70km/h or so, when my car started to tremble.

The dragginess or difference is not very obvious. I used to always forget to release handbrake last time when I switch between cars with handbrake and footbrake. Hahaha!! :-)

Even now, if I have been driving the camry then suddenly change to the Forte, I will always wanna pull handbrake. Vice versa too when I drive the Forte, I wanna step on the footbrake. :-)

Anyways, after a while, guess you can feel the difference if really its cos you didnt fully release the handbrake. :-)

Lets just hope it doesnt happen again!! Thats the best!! :-)

I do know sometime engine behave this way. I'm still not sure of the reasons but if you off the engine and restart it again, it will be fine. But this is not the solution to it, maybe during servicing, you may bring up this issue to them to rectify it.

i think it's a rough gearshift. I had this experience before. From 2nd gear to the 3rd, if you step too hard on the accelerator without giving it ample time to shift, it will jerk, shake and tremble.

Does this apply to auto car? I feel mine sometimes also vibrate but I blush it off as it may be due to uneven road

yes, it applies to auto, except for double-clutch transmission.

Cruiser, what should the remedy be if the rough gearshift takes place at the point of time?

lighten your foot pressure on the accelerator when the gear appears to be shifting.

Does using steptronic to change to higher gear helps?

can, you can control when your gear is going to shift. Sometimes the computer is just so screwed at reading the shift timing. But don't step too hard as usual the case while the gear is still shifting. Eg. don't push your accelerator during the two seconds delay for the gear to shift from 2nd to 3rd. Once the next gear is fully connected, you can play with the accelerator. Trembling Forte Icon_biggrin

Cruiser, does it help if I were to send in my car for servicing, or this gear shifting stuff is something that everyone has to observe to prevent the car from trembling?

..

You have to catch hold of your biting point properly with sufficient acceration and this should solve the problem. It's a matter of time getting use to new car.
