SG License Conversion. P-plate? Empty SG License Conversion. P-plate?

Post by benjaminlim 4th September 2009, 1:50 pm

Hey guys,

I just got my SG driving license. Did the conversion process from my M'sian driving license to S'pore driving license. All done and settle no issues... I'm just wondering if I need to display the P-plate or not? I remember seeing it stated somewhere that having the S'pore license the first time should display for one year.

Having it on atm ... better be safe than sorry but brings back memories when I started to drive loooooong time ago.
Anybody got info on this? do share... thanks cheers~!

I think from the date of conversion of your license, you need to display P plate for 1 yr

a few clicks on my mouse yielded this.....

Displaying of P-plate
You are required to display the P-plate sign on your vehicle if the issue date of your foreign licence is less than 1 year. You may stop displaying it after the 1 year period like new Singapore licence holders.

ok... so from what i understand means i dont need to display? cos my m'sian (foreign) license is like ages ago. hehehe thats good news.

but i think the P-plate is going to stick la. my wife kinda likes it there... not very good in driving so she prefer it to be there! kakakaka Laughing . maybe someone can come up with a device with flip switch to display the p-plate and flip back then hide.

thanks guys! very informative!

hmmm i just realised the sentence can be quite confusing. since i'm a foreigner and it say's "issue date of your foreign license" ... means the current m'sian driving license leh... or the new s'pore license. cos the s'pore license is consider a 'foreign license' too?! hahaha i hope i make sense.

any license ppl in the forum?
