Timing belt or chain

Forte and Avante are using the same engine, I was told.

So if Avante is using chain belt instead of timing belt, that means Forte is also chain driven.

Can anyone confirm this?

A search on the web says that chain last longer to 150km but more expensive to change whereas timing belt is cheaper but you change it more frequently at 60km.

Anyway, I was told that chain is more quieter.....hmm...is that correct?

KiA provided a comparsion chart and showed Avante using gamma1 engine while Forte uses gamma2 engine.

most of us here in SG need not worry about replacing the chain timing belt coz it can last up to 150K km.....our ride only last for 10 yrs....

Forte confirm runs on chain. For 1.6 is Gamma 2 but 2.0 is Theta 2 engine if I'm not wrong.

So i guess the cerato forte/koup are both running on timing chain instead of belt right??
