[DIY] Air-con insulation group buy (MU: 15 Aug 2009 - 1500hrs)

Hello all, i am planning to get the items for DIY air-con insulation this coming 4th MU (15 Aug 2009) at Seng Kang 1500hrs.

Where to buy:
NE Refrigeration
35 Ubi Crescent
S(408585)

For 10 riders:
7 pcs 3/4" 2m rubber insulator ($2 per unit),
one can of adhesive glue ($7 per tin),
two rolls of rubber adhesive tape ($7 per roll in box) and if possible a pack of cable ties, thin and black type.
Bring own pliers for taking out one of the nuts, scissors, cutter knives and
one tiny plastic bottle to contain the adhesive glue.

The above items can cater for 10 rides. So kindly list down your nick & name. I will get more if more people want to do. Surprised

So far i calculated total is $35 excluding cable ties. Just now spicyred mentioned that each car should cost about $4 to get the insulation materials.

Ummm....not sure though. But you can try join the MU this Saturday and let the expert bros here 'operate' on it. Shocked

to all bros who r doing the air-con DIY this coming MU, if possible, go & grab a stick of ice-cream b4 u start. grin

2 reasons:
1)i think it's going to b quite HOT that day as i recall that CP, not much shade.
2)the ice-cream stick will come in handy as u nd it to drip it into the adhesive glue & apply it on the rubber insulator.

the adhesive glue can b quite sticky & the ice-cream stick will save u the trouble of sticky fingers grin

pls take note that aft u apply the adhesive glue on the rubber insulator, leave it to dry-up abit (abt 2mins).
it'll stick & close the rubber insulator better & last longer.

take ur time, do a gd job & enjoy the back-ache lol!

I think i will consider get a pack of new ice-cream sticks instead of using the freshly eaten one. Wait the insulator pipe also become ants nest.....hehehe.

take note, sat they close @ 1400 or 1500hrs, can't remember.

i actually did my air-con twice, the 1st time was a rush job bcos of the rain. Mad

so the 2nd time, we did it in MSCP, away fr rain & sun...@ nite
this time round, i take my time, do abit, straighten my back abit, fellowship abit...it was a great DIY session thumbsup

Just an advice: you may not want to turn ON your air-con on the way there, bec the air-con metal pipe will collect water condensation and you need to wipe it very dry to begin the installation.
