Re: Speeding kills
but then... how many driver will repent after seeing these?
still there is more people asking how to make their ride powerful,
rather than how to make their ride more stable or how to upgrade their braking/stopping power in a word improves their car handling...
there is a proper place to speed...

Re: Speeding kills
and how many of us cursed and swear at the sight of TPs, LTAs...
or shocked as if we had just seen a ghost? and traffic is much more slower with their presence...
lol... i ever see few situations when drivers don't dare to overtake them... until one car or bike overtake them then everybody follow...

Re: Speeding kills
Speeding doesn't kill. It's uncontrolled use of speed. If speeding kills, then all the formula one drivers would have died.
Even in the KPE where there's a strict 70kph speed limit, there has been traffic accidents with fatalities. Even 50kph is enough to kill a person as a car has such great mass. And many a 'mature' and 'careful' driver has caused accident because they think they drive within speed limits, but they aren't alert to the road situation.

Re: Speeding kills
agreed...
but speeding is just one of a contributing factor...
there are many other factors that leads to road fatalities...
thats why the alertness, anticipation, is very important especially in high speed... and ur mental and stamina need to strong... thats why not everybody can become racedriver... but everybody wish to be one... like to act one
can try at p.gudang... most i will give 5 laps for beginner to drive b4 they will feel really exhausted.
cannot compared with F1 as the circuit is well controlled, risk calculated... theres no innocent bystander... well i dont really care if the driver of any speeding vehicles dies since they took the risk... but the death of innocent rd user... pedestrian...etc and the trauma they had if they survived.

Re: Speeding kills
The 2 times I've gotten into accidents while driving both happened at and below the road's speed limit. Both incidents the car in front of me suddenly and inexplictably jammed brakes. It's situations like that when I was complacent and driving leisurely that got me into the accidents.
Most of the time when I'm in a rush and I drive above the speed limits, I am very alert to my surroundings and will usually keep a wider berth from other cars and (particularly) motorbikes when I overtake them.
Anyway some pedestrian are also putting themselves at unnecessary risk when they decide to walk on the roadside instead of pavement, and are not alert to their surroundings when they jaywalk. The fact that they jaywalk already precludes their innocence.

Re: Speeding kills
agreed... tried driving at little India on sunday... hehe
bo pian... they dont need to attend school to become pedestrian...
yup... when we drive slower... we tend to let our guards down...
thats when complacency took over our defence...
but then for those believe in religion... its fate
for those who don't believe in fate... its murphy's law... 8)

Re: Speeding kills
I've seen a traffic accident picture in msia NSH.
It shows a kelisa carrying 3 passengers with the top all shaved off. The 3 passengers were killed however the driver (a young boy) survived.
The front passenger had her head decapitated and the driver (who as still buckled up in his driver seat) was seen to have this stunt look staring at his friend. Wonder how he can live with the guilt?

Re: Speeding kills
Talking about LTA, TPs and cameras....I cant understand why no matter what speed cars are driving at, whenever it comes to that spot where the camera is, cars have to break???!!!!! Damn stupid!!!!
I travel along AYE a lot!! And always, I mean always, the short stretch where the camera is, sure very slow traffic. Even early morning heavy traffic, almost every car I see seem to brake at that spot, even if the car in front of them did not break or is far ahead!! What nonsense!!! So afraid till like that??!! Morning heavy traffic, the average speed all cars are going at definitely below 90!! Maybe even below 80 on the AYE from Clementi to town. So why the need to step on your brake just cos you see a camera??!!!!
I am very sure this has caused accidents many a times!! If you are travelling above the speed limit and step on your brake when you see the camera, I understand!! But if you are travelling below the speed limit, why the hell is it necessary to step on the brake???!!!
Sorry!! Just venting my frustration!! Cos this morning happened again!!! :-)

Re: Speeding kills
Understand your feeling... Last Sunday was driving along PIE-towards Paya lebar and saw many cars braking and slowed down (vehicles moving at 2nd gear speed). when reaching Paya Lebar flyover... no road jam and cleared road 1km ahead.. Was there pretty woman crossing PIE so all cars stopped?
