they allow u to source for insurance outside meh? ur SE submitted the insurance quotation to AIG for u? (since less than a yr)

I believe u can except that they will have to take away the insurance rebate that they give, meaning price of the car will increase....

that's only worth it if u can get outside insurance that is at least 1.5k cheaper..

maybe cheaper in the long run.... if u get accident and under ur name .... it will increase some more..
if u get into accident and in ur parent's name... u will pay a higher reserve price but insurance will be less....
then next year u can transfer the insurance to ur name....u get the numbers and see which one more advantage...

I was misquote by my SE, initially it was about S$1.8K then when I went down to book the Koup, was quote S$2.2K as the previous quote was for the sedan

Ya farhan, maybe you should really let ya parent "own" the car if the insurance premium is lower. Anyhow, no one really bothers about who's name is on the insurance policy. The $$ saved can be better used.. like.. pump petrol!

I seriously doubt that the color of the car plays a part in the insurance. It is not on the table of that my SE used to figure out the insurance.

not sure if they use it here but in US, they associate the color to ur personality type and red is considered more aggressive and oso the fact that red cars tend to get more attention - both good and bad.

hi.. hv dbl cnfm wif SE,. she even showed me the file.. LK quoted me sedan insurance..
luckily i bought b4 the insurance increases.. last wk i visit Fulco, she infm me insurance increase by sgd300 liao..

well, my parents are already bogged down so i dun wanna bother them.. plus the car is already under my name and so is the COE.. have tried asking my SE to change ownership but not possible.. its ok la.. lose now and learn.. its heart pain and a lot of money i noe.. but no use crying over spilled milk..

they allow me to source out.. my SE told me that the car will still be 58k.. the price tat i bought it for.. so tats a bit of consolation..

anyway, thanks guys for the suggestions.. was initially quoted 3.5k for my insurance.. now it jump so high i also cannot do anything.. talked to my parents abt it also and they say the 3.5k was ok.. now they think otherwise.. if u in my position, u'd noe the kinda hell i'm gg thru.. lolx..

i'm 28yrs old, office job, less than 1 week driving experience they quoted me 3.9k for OPC somemore... for normal its 4.6k...

mine is final 5.5k..

if you are paying > 2.8k for insurance for a 1.6l car. Think again.

My dad pass me his duplicate keys as i'm driving frequently aft he reach hme/wkends.. To view it another way, i'm stil 23yrs old, 5yrs licence, no "official status on owning a car"...

My SE estimated insur. for me will b above 3.5k.. if under my dad's name will b ard 1.6k instead.. spend alot of time thinking abt it n decided to let my dad have ownership... (i oso wan 2have a veh under my name..) but $$$ can b spend else whr...

since like that then source outside lar... confirm cheaper than 5.5k... wat some company deemed as high risk may not be the same as another insurance company thus the price difference...

well guys, as stupid as i am, i'm stuck with it.. no matter what.. no choice jus move on..

Frankly speaking, not easy to source for insurance for less than 1yr old driving experience. Only a handful of companies take this category of risk.
