Driver Side Window Sound Empty Driver Side Window Sound

Post by koayst 21st July 2009, 9:32 am

I heard sound (like there was a bug trapped) in the driver's side window.

And I noticed the sound only like from 80 km/h onwards.

Anybody having similar experience ?

welcome to the "Whistling side mirror" club.. this has been discussed b4.. i heard this on n off but only at higher speed.. very clear if u drive w/o air-con n wind down ur window.. the sound come from outside.. and pretty sure its create by wind moving accross the side mirror... high pitch whistling... I have rattling/vibrating sound from my driver side door, sounds like something is loose inside the door panel.

It occurs when i accelerate the car and the engines vibrate to pick up speed, or when my bass from my music is on the high side.

Not sure if this is the same as what is mentioned. Anyone else with this issue?

I have auto-folding mirror.

I was travelling like around 80 km/h along ECP last evening and I heard the sound. It sounded like a bug was trapped in the driver's side door/window trying to get out.

Or like arcing sound of 2 electric cable coming in contact.

Or like ziii ziiiz ziii zzii . ....

Hope you get the idea ;-(

For the whistling sound, it's due to the gap at the bottom of the side mirror, where the joint is. Cover the gap, and you will not hear the sound. Of cos, KIA has to find a solution to this, otherwise, it's so irritating to drive with the window down.

For those that want to DIY opening up the door panel, make sure u know what u r doing, because u need to dislodge the door opening module and pull off the toggle links and some of the plastic clip stopper (blue in colour) can crack easily and meant to be replace once open....make sure u stand by those small items....
