Re: Petrol and Grade
Mobil synergy 5000.
Why?
Don't need too good one, no diff at all.
and also using citibank esso card, will reach up till 17.something percent rebate. part of it on esso points which can change for petrol vouchers.

FC varies from 5.4-7.8l/100km on the meter depending on drive habits of the day.
So far about 13xx-15.xxkm/l.

Re: Petrol and Grade
hmm..to me caltex 92 the feeling is abt the same as esso 5000 (octane 95). so 92 is actually good enough for our forte as it was rated 91 if i nv rmb wrongly.
lol...
but of coz go bolehland i will go for PETRONAS!!!

I think last time really can watch, there was video and get a real feel of how good or bad. Now they only have picture, right or not?
Petrol just about any will do, I now wondering if those claims about detergents in the petrol worth going for or not? I think I read and noted that for most brands don't have detergents for 92 grade except Caltex and their Techron. Anyone can confirm this with me? And share if it really is important to have that detergent or not?

Re: Petrol and Grade
i tink not really need the detergent now...bcoz our ride is still so call brand new.
i tink it will be more useful to older cars..maybe older than 3 yrs old car?
however i juz feel caltex 92 is good enough for our forte.. and FC doesnt make any diff...

Re: Petrol and Grade
anyway if ur in bolehland follow wat the Malaysian luv, dat's is Petronas.Being a National Oil they've a reputation to uphold , their additive used is much better than the rest even though most of them on Octant 97. Tish if UR worry about contamination then upon return jus "flush" with Caltex 98 or Vpower. I myself is using caltex/SPC 92 but try to "flush" at least every 6mths.

Re: Petrol and Grade
well, it's random check @ departure... as long as not caught, pp will still attempt to go in with less than 3/4 tank...
just like pp trying to bring in DVDs, chewing gum, cigarettes from bolehland... they noe it's prohibited but still try, hoping not to be caught lo

Re: Petrol and Grade
I'm still at around 500km. So far running on Caltex 95. FC so far is 7.7 - 8.9 l/100km, 70% highway. Think it'll be better after my engine has run-in. My colleague claims his Swift gets the best FC with a mixture of Caltex 95 and 98 so maybe I'll give it a try soon...

Re: Petrol and Grade
I just pumped esso 2000.
Uncle gave me a werid look, he asked, wah ur new car u pump 2000 ah got power or not? he seems to doubt my choice. As far as I know, my previous FC for 5000 already so bad liao, no harm trying 2000, besides its after run-in liao, everything should improve.
Last checked my on board computer reading, small road not many cars a few traffic lights giving me 6.9l/100km liao.

Re: Petrol and Grade
Caltex techron 92.
Tried others and even Shell Vpower but I couldn't appreciate the difference. Maybe I too newbie to feel it. So I stuck with Caltex 92 cos my wallet sure felt the difference....
FC wise, I think more depends on driving habit than petrol grade. Anyway, my FC is average 10+km/ltr in a 90%city drive condition.
