Re: is the stock tyres good?
The SX stock tyres should be Kumho Solus KH17. MIK. Ok for normal driving, but yes, rather heavy.

The stock is ok if it's basically for point A - B driving. I changed mine after getting the car for better wet weather grip.

Re: is the stock tyres good?
As we know S'pore only have rain or shine, so do invest in a normal set of wet weather tyre since their dry weather grip is also good. Only thing that would prevent you from getting into trouble are your brakes and tyres.
One cheap and good wet weather tyre that I would recommend is NEXEN N3000. E-brake after exit CTE tunnel at 100km/h during a heavy downpour did not cause my car to fish tail(w/o ABS) nor skid very far, as if the road is dry. Had too many close calls but the tyre saved my butt. Dry grip also very good, never hear it screech when doing sharp bends at faster speeds (those expressway exits that are similar to round about). The tyre should set you back few hundred dollars

Driving style and driver not important?

Well, they must be good to be able to withstand being overpressured by C&C to 46psi or higher and unknowing folks driving around in them none the wiser for weeks without reports of blown tyres.

Not every driver adapt the same style nor is 100% sure what is gonna happen next, hence it's a variable. But tyre grip is more or less a constant.

Re: is the stock tyres good?
I find other than the levels of dry and wet weather grip of a tire, another important aspect of the tire is how the tire reacts at the limit of its traction. Some tires may have extremely high levels of grip, but when it reaches it limit, it just lets go suddenly and completely. Other tires will start to gently understeer more and more, and you can rein it back in by releasing abit of the throttle.

Since it's constant, shouldn't be the focus on driver's input and his approach to driving?

Re: is the stock tyres good?
Driver's style of driving is as impt as the tyre grip. No matter how gd a tyre is, it will still give way under adverse road/driving condition.

Re: is the stock tyres good?
correct me if i am wrong.. wet tyres are good for wet weather.but dry weather e grip is nt that good. singapore weather mostly is dry.. and wet weather mostly wil nt drive too fast. dry tyres (racing tyres) are good during dry weather but wet weather grip is bad.. question is (how bad?) stock tyres r heavy but how heavier than a good tyres like hankook?how much per good pair?

I think you are thinking along the terms of F1. But in sport radial tires which are used in road going cars, wet weather tires do not lose much in terms of dry grip when compared to dry weather tire. In fact, some wet weather tires perform just the same or better than average passenger tires. The only disadvantage is the added cost of the tire and the rate it wears out is faster.
As for weight of stock tire, I've already posted it in the another thread concerning the weight of the stock wheels. It's not really heavy, in fact the wet weather tires I replaced it with are heavier by 1.1kg per tire.
