Post by aryanz82 6th March 2010, 12:43 pm

HI guys, was wondering if your se mentioned abt the key dock to the right of steering wheel). I was told that in case the batt went flat, we can insert the key into this dock and the koup will run on its reserve power...just enough for you to get to the nearest workshop. What if we install a car alarm. will this feature still be available since the stock key is made redundant.

LOL. The insert key part is to start your car la bro....

Koup DO NOT have reserve power for car battery.....

Apparently your SE is bad at explanation. What he should have clearly started is that the battery refers to the smart key battery. You insert the smart key there for the car to sense it so as to use the push start...

the dock is slightly below the 'Start" button ya?..on the left, i dun see any on the right of the steering wheel.

nonetheless, ur SE is talking abt the smart key batteries not the car battery.

btw, i tot if the key is low batt, we shld open it up and change the batteries inside?..i read this in the car manual..and according to SE, its rechargable by putting it in the dock.

this true?

my SE also told me that the dock is for recharging the smart key batteries. told me to get into the habit of putting the key there once a week to charge.
if no batt, can pull out the physical key to open the door, then can recharge while driving.
but for changing the battery, she told me to go back to CnC..

Nope. The dock will not recharge your battery. The battery is a non rechargeable type. LOL

So in short...the dock is to be used when the remote key's batt is flat n can't be used to start the car rite? Cheh. Tot the car itself had some reserve power. Like that when car batt flat.. No choice bt
to jump start or call
tow truck huh.

okay, call me paranoid, but i just went to "study" the manual. summary:

- smartkey batt definitely not rechargeable... it uses a CR2032 battery
- dunno if can call it "reserve battery" or what, but it does say "when the battery is weak," (talking about car batt) "if the ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed, the indicator will blink and you are not able to start the engine. However, you are able to start the engine by inserting the smart key in the smart key holder." -- Section 4-49 in the manual

Hope that helps~!

I wonder how to start car when battery is weak.... for normal car, when battery is weak, you cannot crank, means you cannot crank and cannot start. Jump cable to connect another car battery and start car, whether by cranking or push start.

hmm.. actually.. maybe they were talking about the smartkey batt?
that might make more sense.. smartkey batt weak, so car cannot detect smartkey in the car.. so cannot start.
but if we put the smartkey in the key holder, it will detect it there physically and so, u can start the car.

make sense?

LOL! i agree with bro nivlek.. that dock is just for the transponder purpose to detect it is inside the car in case the transponder runs out of battery. it will not charge the transponder as well (transponder not rechargeable). and nothing to do with car batteries as well. Those are what SE told me
