Upslope no power Empty Upslope no power

Post by j1eann1e 12th February 2010, 4:32 pm

Hi all,

I'm driving a 1.6A SX. When moving off on a normal road, I can feel the changing gear from 1 --> 2 --> 3.
However, on a upslope, i don't feel it changing gear, and i feel like no matter how hard I press the accelerator, my car doesn't go up with power, and I don't feel any change in gear. So when going upslope, I'm always slower than other cars. I'll only catch up when it goes downslope.

I learned Manual so I don't know if Auto cars work differently. What should I do to ensure that my car power up on a slope?

ps. My car is SJS series, should my car have the auto side mirror folding system? I thought it was added on all Kia CFs after SJQ series?

Mine is 2nd hand so can't ask the sales people... or can I?

U can switch to steptronic to down gear for more
rev. Cos tis is 4gear box auto so goin up slope on slow speed will definitely feel a lost of power.

So fast 2nd hand? Where get Lobang one? Share share leh.

I didn't test drive any other car. This is my first car. First ad i see, i buy liao.

I haven't tried the steptronic..!

BTW, do you think my car should come with the Auto Folding system but I have to send it to be installed?

Mine dont need 2L also clear slope like nothing, use steptronic is another option, if not sure how to use, come 4 meet up, will show u how to use it.

There is upgraded version 4 ECU, just send to CnC leng kee on 10 Feb due to cracked windscreen, the mechanic just plug in n upgrade without my consent. Discovered it when turn back to take photo 4 cracked windscreen.

Yeah, My Forte also clear slope like nothing. If you want to have more power, drop gear using sportronic. If not, just floor the accelerator and our D mode will drop gear and can hit more than 5k rpm. Upslope no power 332362

brother, never read the manual right.... hahaha!

Okok, to shift down gear when in "D" mode, depress the accelerator hard it will auto shift down 1 gear. So yup like most brothers here already said, just release the pedal and step hard.

Another thing I feel about dropping gear at slope is the rpm will shot high up to 4K...Although the car is moving faster but the engine noise is louder. Then I tried to play with the accelerator pedal and release it a bit to allow the rpm to hover around 3.5K....car feel that more power and less noise to go up slope.

So is this something related to the optimal torque curve of the 1.6 engine?

Wat grade of petrol did you pump?

My experience is, if pump 95, and floor the accelerator, the car is more responsive in delivering the power... of course, FC will suffer lah...

any bros here experience the same thing?

I think forte power is there... but at FC expenses... press hard and the engine will respond.. but sure not the usual driving sound you'll want..

I just climbed the highest peak of Cameron Highland... 3 days ago!.. (very siong..now thinking sending for early service... Upslope no power Icon_cry ) ~2010m with slope >40deg...i think.. all the way in D mode.. Upslope no power 332362, only downhill i use "sportronics"

Talking about upslope power.
I realized that after my second service at C&C,
my SX Auto Xiaobai really catch up all the uphill and cornering very smoothly and powerful. (Compare to my first trip to Cameron last August 2009)
