Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
Hi guys,
Just wondering, anybodies KOUP has a patchwork that is smaller than a size of A4 paper right infront of the rear tires(both side). Cant really describe where it is. And it looks delibrate. Matches the paint of the car. If i can i will take a picture of it and post it when i have a chance.

it is suppose to protect the scratch-prone areas.. I think..

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
Yah, I noticed this too. Being wanting to ask this but always forgot. Mine's a Forte and both rear doors have this patch near the bottem of the door where the curve is. Other Forte owners notice this too? Donno for what...

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
is it a transparent film? i dunno cause i haven't seen the care yet...

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
it is better to remove it as it will cause the colour of the patch to be different from the surrounding area if it is removed after a few months .....saw the different in colour after it was removed from one of the bro's ride.....

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
Can advise what's the purpose of this patch? Many people remove?

As mentioned by qbear "it is suppose to protect the scratch-prone areas"......
juz like the rest of the car..... certain other areas are also wrapped and protected b4 delivering it to the new owner......ie. seating cover with plastic, head unit display also covered with transparent plastic etc.....

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
Sorry but I really cannot understand why that area is scratch prone? Cannot imagine a situation where only that part will be scratch instead of whole door.

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
yeah, talk abt that..
i noticed the patch long time ago, since i do my own car grooming.. it doesn't really show, but definately there's a reason.
i thot only Forte has them, but it seemed like Koup has them too..
Any one has remove those patches??

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
not sure exactly why that particular area.....perhaps (juz my guess) it is during the manufacturing process that the area may be in close contact with certain machinery when the doors are fully opened....
I removed mine on the first day after collection 10 months ago......

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
So underneath the patch is the same color and finishing as the rest of the door? Cos I worry tear out then below is different color or got a few holes etc. But expected that the tone may be a little different depending on how long it has already been there.

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
For white colour better tear it away. Whitechoco, dun tell me you hvnt tear away and you do your PPS? Leo is one case where he did his PPS and din tear away the sticker. Now that area is not cover with PPS but at least it's better cos it's not obvious to see the yellow patch. It's very obvious after some time if you dun tear away cos that sticker will turn yellow and dirty around that area and very ugly.
Dun listen to SE as they always b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t.

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
Just to let you all know, our Forte also have this patch and that patch is starting to turn into other ugly colour.
That's y now that area is not cover with PPS. It's better you hurry tear it down now if not your will see your white Koup with a plaster soon at each side. I already told leo to tear it down fast fast.

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
i suspect it is used during voyage from Korea to Singapore. Probably this area is touching some item used for sea fastening.

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
imagine your new 42" panel TV when it was delivered to you.....the black shining bezel around the glass panel is also tape-up with similar tapes to prevent any scratches during the manufacturing/transportation......it is now up to the new owner to decide if he/she want to left it or remove it.....
for me I've chosen to remove it as it has already served it purpose....unlike the TV, after a few months under the sun the patch will start to look yellowish and also caused the paint colour underneath it to be different with it surrounding paint when removed (I saw it with my own eyes)....

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
The pix shows surface area "patchwork" to be too small to protect the paintwork.
Refer to the 3M Scotchguard Paint Protection Film and click on the 1-min video.

Re: Noticed a Patchwork on both sides
seriously that patch is useless, the most prone to scratches is the front bumper and bonnet isnt it caused by road grinds picked up by the tyres of the vehicle in front of you, why didnt they paste the whole front of the car haahaha
