Chomp Team Charity Drive 2009 - Sun, 13 Dec 09
Dear members,
Chomp Team will be organising our inaugural
charity drive in Dec 09. After much consideration, we have chosen Club
Rainbow Singapore as our beneficiary.
Club Rainbow is a
registered charity committed to helping children suffering from a range
of chronic and life-threatening illnesses.
The charity currently supports more than 470 children and their families.
The
proposed charity drive will be in the form of a drive thru’ style, and
will be held on Sun, 13 Dec 09 from 10am to 3pm, at Kallang Leisure
Mall,
Carpark G, Coach Shed.
As we are undertaking this event
on our own, it will be a simple setup with just a few tables and
chairs. No banner or stall will be set up for this purpose.
The
objectve of the event is to urge members to drive-thru our area,
purchase the Club Rainbow collar pins (at nett price ie $2 per piece)
and handover of any donated items. Drivers could then continue with
their pre-planned family Sunday outings thereafter.
Along with
the pin purchases, we would also be giving Club Rainbow brochures to
the drivers, in the aim to promote awareness of this charity
organisation.
Club Rainbow have indicated that items in need are daily essentials as follows:
1) Canned food - eg sardines, diced fish, curry chicken, luncheon meat
2) Beverages - eg coffee, condensed milk
3) Cereals and biscuits
4) Milk powder
- Nespray 7 / Full Cream (for children 7 years and above)
- Glucerna SR
- Pediasure (vanilla flavour)
- Enfalac A AR (anti-reflux)
5) Cooking oil, sugar, noodles
The donated items will be delivered to Club Rainbow by us on a separate date.
The sales of the collar pins would be at nett price and no profits made from it.
Kindly
note that no cash donation will be collected during the charity drive.
Any cash donations would be rejected and donors would be
advised to contact CRS directly on this.
Chomp
Team have pledged 100 collar pins in advance for this event. As this is
an inaugural event by us, we are unable to anticipate the response. As
such, we have only requested limited quantity of pins from Club
Rainbow. In the event that response is overwhelmed with the selling out
of the pins, we would like to seek the understanding and support of all
members to still dropby to deposit their donated items to us.
We can be contacted at 98754323 (Rover) or email : rover_c@hotmail.com for any further clarification.

NiVleK wrote:So what is Chomp team???
The Chomp Team is a small group of car owners who shares the same depth of interest in car dress-up enthusiasm.
Starting
off as a forum, interacting via chats on various topics about car
modifications and styling, a small group of enthusiasts soon arranged
for a meet up, believing that it is more practical to put a face to the
various forum nicks. Hereafter, the Chomp Team was formed. The group’s
very first meet up was vital, especially for those who are keen in
modifying or dressing their rides up, and through such close
interactions, the group got to understand car-related issues as well as
each other better.
MEETING PLACE
The group
started their meet-ups at the infamous Yishun Dam, where most car
enthusiasts often congregate. Ear blasting music, eye blinding lights
and thunder revving sounds of performance engines from other rides
which lined up at Yishun Dam enhanced the group's interest in car
modifications. Slowly but surely, the group built up stronger bonds and
some even started to 'poison' each other where members would
persistently tempt each other with their new modifications.
INITIAL ATTRITION
Over
the years, some members left although the bulk of the core group
remained. The group eventually shifted their meet-up venue from Yishun
Dam to Chomp Chomp at Serangoon Gardens, where they could meet and have
supper at the same time. This move proved worthwhile, as more rides
sharing the same interest joined in. The Kia Picanto formed the
majority of the group’s cars with the group initiating their inaugural
'Chingay Pica Showdown' photo shoots where the Picanto owners
transformed and dressed their beloved rides up into a wide array of
flashing disco and neon lights. Without any proper photography
equipments, the group used their own low-budget assets to satisfy their
photo shoot hungers, using conventional digital cameras in place of
DSLRs, and HID fog lamps to compensate for the lack of flashes and
spotlights. However all these weren’t enough to satisfy their hunger
and thus the group now holds annual photo shoots at various venues with
different themes. Invitations are also extended to rides of other
makes/models. Exploring all avenues, the group even had an opportunity
to have their photo shoots taken with freelance models and
photographers!
MEMBERSHIP EXPANSION
With
confidence building up day by day, the group began to recruit more car
enthusiasts. From a small group of less than five, the group now
comprise of a modest 20 rides when attendance is full. In order to have
an established identity, the group subsequently named themselves 'Chomp
Team'. As the group's name implies, Chomp Chomp becomes their
‘homebase’, as they continue their traditional discussions on car
modifications, committing to regular meet-ups every week. Rides of all
styles (VIP, retro, luxury, fashion, etc) can be seen evolving from the
stock conditions of members' rides week by week. Nicks which suits
their rides’ themes also evolved, and members started naming their
rides such as White Angel, Red Devil, Dark Knight, Black Stallion, etc.

Dear all,
It
has been a great exposure so far working with all the car clubs to
materalise this event. The event date is drawing near and we are
getting favorable responses from various car clubs on the donations as
well as turn-up.
Here are some administrative issues and flow of
events for your information (esp useful for those who have not explored
the coach bay before):
Location of Coach Bay:
Pls
be reminded that the carpark G is not connected to the Coach Bay. The
Coach Bay have it's own entry and exit point. Many who have not been to
the Coach Bay would often drive round and round the carpark, trying to
get into the Coach Bay from within the carpark. Instead, drivers would
need to enter the Coach Bay via the bay's own entry point.
Sales Point:
Sales
Point is solely for purchases of pins. The Sales Point (for the pins)
will be located somewhere at the centre of the Bay (when u entered the
Bay). For clubs with large convoy, u may wish to gather at the carpark
G before splitting into smaller convoys to enter the Coach Bay, as we
would not want to jam up the main road.
Donation Drop-off Point:
At
the Sales Point, our guys will check with u whether there's any
donation items. For those who have donation items, our guys will be
there to direct u to the 'Donation Drop-off' Point (which is at the
sheltered portion of the Bay, after making a u-turn within the Bay).
After dropping off the items, u may wish to park ur cars back at the
carpark G, and thereafter gather back at the 'Drop off' Point for a
group photo-taking. Similarly for those without donation items, u may
proceed directly to park ur car at the carpark G and proceed to meet ur
fellow members at the 'Drop off' Point for phototaking. After the
phototaking, we'll shift the donated items aside to our central
depository point. Members may continue to mingle around or disperse
thereafter.
Group Phototaking:
Kindly note that we are
only taking group photos of members together with the donated items.
Members are advised to park their cars at the carpark G to avoid
conjestion at the Coach Bay.
Pls note that the pins are
available for sales at 'First come First served' basis. In the event
the pins are sold out, we appreciate members' understanding.
Once
again, do note that we are doing this at a budgetary approach, thus
there'll be no banners or stalls setup for this event. There'll just be
a simple table and chairs at the Sales Point. Nonetheless, the Coach
Bay is easily recognised when u reached the Kallang Leisure Mall, thus
should not be a prob in recognising us.
We look forward for ur
continue support and hope to see more members and items being donated
within this last week before the actual event date.
On behalf of Club Rainbow Singapore, thanks in advance for all who had committed themselves to this event.
Cheers to all!
