GoodYear Eagle F1 GSD 3
My 3rd set of GSD 3, 2 sets previously on my old car and the grip is good, both dry and wet. My personal rating: Dry - 9/10, wet - 8/10
Durability: Good, and I have been using the Thailand made ones and so far no complaints. Price: Reasonable. About 140 each for profile 225/45/R17

no problemo. It's for the benefit for other fellow members too who are looking for tyres for a change. Mine was at the all-time popular Poh Heng, provided you can endure the waiting.

I tried the following.
Goodyear Eagle F1 (the old V groove stuff, made in thailand)
Wet : 9
Dry : 8
Comfort :who cares
Noise : 9 when new, 5 after half year (gets quite noisy)
One thing about Eagle F1, when it is at the limits of its grip, it will let go gently and the car will start to understeer abit, the driver can slow down abit to reduce understeer.
Falken ZIEX 502
Wet : 1 (I think I rather stay indoors during rain)
Dry : 9
Comfort : Who cares
Noise : 6 (quite noisy even from new)
If you love surprises and excitement from your drive, try these tires. I've drifted into petrol stations and aquaplaned at 90kph on the expressway too many times. It hates cement surfaces and wet puddles. Will let go of the grip suddenly without warning, fantastic if you have a deathwish. Squeals like a dying pig in a multistory carpark.
Falken ZIEX 512
Wet : 5(improved over the 502, but I still won't trust it on heavy rain)
Dry : 8 (somehow less grippy than 502)
Comfort :erm..
Noise : 6 (slightly quieter than 502)
Slight improvement over the 502. One interesting aspect of this tire is that it is lightweight. That means fuel saving. But tire wear is quite fast, about 40k and it becomes semi-slick. Then it gets scary to drive in the rain.

For fuel-saving tyres, I recommend using Michelin.
Yokohama A-Drive's (currently using) Verdict:
Plus
- cheap and huge availability of sizes
- lower tyre noise than stock
- better grip
- more resistant to wear and tear
Minus
- despite using a low-profile tyre, any speed above 140km/h, the tyre seems not obedient (swaying left and right)
Wet: 7 (designed to perform best on wet surfaces)
Dry: 8 (tried doing e-brake on dry surfaces, result was fantastic)
Comfort: 6 (may sway left-right when above 140km/h, low-profile size can pick up a lot of "complaints" from the road)
Noise: 6 (a bit of tyre noise when above 90km/h but better than stock)

I'm currently using the Falken ZE912, 215/50/R17.
- Ride is very smooth and quieter as well. Very comfortable too.
- Better grip then stock
- Value for money
- Dry : 8
- Wet : 7

I do agree that the waiting time is long. Not too sure on the way of doing business, but so long I get the best price I am ok. . Honestly, I was kept waiting 5 hrs for my tyres, eventually I have to jalan jalan around, fnish my window film installation, bought and installed my air filter, makan lunch, changed my rims elsewhere, went back and then waited for another hour, but managed to take 20 bucks off the original agreed price..in return for my God-sent patience.
