Re: My Big Blue
Forgot to mention, I also changed to GT radial tires..The tires are actually heavier than stock ones, but it has the 'rim protector' feature built in, so I swapped them as insurance..but they are NOISY!!! Argh! *regret regret*
The stock wheels are 20.2kg, the new setup is 18.7kg..saved 1.5kg per wheel. If I kept the stock tires, the setup would be 17.5kg..saving me 2.7kg per wheel! Now it feel abit cheated..grip is better, but noisier and heavier tire..hmm

Re: My Big Blue
It's still lighter than the stock setup, but only by 1.5kg. If I kept the stock tires, can save 2.7kg per wheel..quite significant in acceleration as the weight is all on the outer circumference..my next tire will have weight taken into as a main consideration.

17" rims. No it's opposite the bukit timah food centre, but the petrol station across the street is a Esso..it's along Jalan Jurong Kechil..
My advice is don't go there..the boss will quote u a super low figure, then he will suddenly give u hidden costs like tire valves and try to upgrade your tire..I'm quite regretting having a slightly noisier tire. Just hope that the wet weather grip will be better..

OIC, is that shop with many colourful rims.....
Why never check out the lobangs shared here..can try Melburn's lobang or the shop at Upper Thomson where I got mine....
Usually tire valves are inclusive, at most $1 per pcs.....does your sport rims comes with an nut adapter?

The guy claims he supply me a better quality valve, and he show me the difference between normal valves and this valve. Yes he pass me the special nut adaptor too. Nevermind lah, already buy liao. At least I'm happy with the rim I am using. Worst case would be not having the rims I want...

Re: My Big Blue
Actually thinking back the price is pretty ok considering it's a trade in of 4rim/tires ..I'm just pissed cuz he made me wait more than 2hours to do it, and i had to drive to YHI with his worker to select my rims (although it also got me this rim, I never saw it before).
Funny thing is, he called me from his shop number today and ask me who called him..and he kept telling me he's from the tire shop..I seriously think he is either acting blur, or he lost his marbles liao..

Re: My Big Blue
Actually the blue strip doesn't match the colour of the car completely..but no choice unless I go and custom paint them to the same shade.. For the price I can't complain. I was initially eyeing the Wedsport rim, but those are like 4 times more expensive..

Re: My Big Blue
how come dont match? different shade should be still ok de ma?
bro maybe u rushing too much? relax a while n consider properly how to do it

The colours look matching from far, but I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to equipment. Oh well, to be perfect means paying 4 times more..I rather be inperfect this time..hehehe Now planning a CAI mod..

Re: My Big Blue
Grounding and voltage stablizer actually show little or no performance on a car but more for stablizing electric current through the whole engine area and also let your battery last longer.
greatgazoo- Senior Member
Re: My Big Blue
u all observes.. clearly!! lolz
anyway.. let bro tiny do his own explaination..
it definately more than just grounding and voltage stablizer..

Re: My Big Blue
Erm guys, it's the CAI.
The grounding was done on the cheap, so why not..I'm sure it doesn't really help in performance, but I did noticed brighter headlights and easier starting. 60ringgit, heck..let the workshop earn.
The pivot Raizin was a free gift from my friend who only wanted the grounding cables..so I just install and see lor. So far the greatest effect is has is to imbue the engine bay with a blue beng light at night when I open it up to show my friends..hahaha

Any improvements after the CAI?
Anyway, what filter are you using?

Re: My Big Blue
CAI definately will help u with pickup response time.. and also mid speed pickup.. (e.g. overtaking of another car)
Note: only good filter will help the CAI.. stock cotton wont last long and easily got dirty then end up choke!

Re: My Big Blue
I'm getting a better bottom end with the CAI. Maybe it's the long trunking volume that's causing it, but I can't be sure. I'm using Hurricane Stainless Steel panel filter. My CAI ends about 4inches behind the foglamp. No holes cut, I don't believe in ramair as it potentially does more harm than good in my opinion.
The air behind the foglamp is so much colder than the airscoop that's sitting above the hot radiator.

Re: My Big Blue
If you look at the grill, you can see the parts where there's a solid backing behind the mesh which blocks out airflow. I was initially planning to get the MO grill in the other thread, but when I saw blueangel's mesh grill I discovered that behind the blocked out areas are our car's crash structure. So if you have a white car, you will see the ugly metal structure behind it after you changed your grill. Ever wondered why the Roadrun grill was pictured with a black car? Download the picture and expand it..you can see the black car structure behind it.
