Beware when refeulling at BOLEH LAND
Was in boleh land over the CNY weekend and went to Kukup for my in laws' annual CNY pilgrimage to Kukup's Seafood. Was actually on the way back to Skudai when I decided to top up my slightly less than half tank. Went into a Shell station just off Pontian town and was about to start refuelling when a pump attended came running to me and shouted at me that I am not allowed more than 20l of petrol. I then queried that isn't that only applicable to stations within a 50km radius from the checkpoint? and further more i was even informed that SGP cars are not exactly the target of such restrictions as their main concern is actually up north. The attended then rebutted me and say that he is only doing his job in following orders as the law states that so as a law abiding citizen he is obligated to follow the law.
So I told him that I don't think that there is such a law and put back the nozzle and wanted to drive off. He then smiled and said that if i give him a RM20 ang pow I could pump till my hearts content. (Hmmm... wonder why the media didn't state such a clause in the passing of the fuel limit law). I smiled and said that its okay.
As I was driving off the station I noticed the pump attendant and his law abiding colleague waving frantically and running towards me, fearing that i could have possibly broken another never give ang pow law I stopped and wound down my window. The attendant than told me that he is generous enough to give me a further discount, RM10 ang pow for full tank. I just shook my head and went off. I managed to pump at Pulai the next day, 30+ litres with no question asked no angpow. Maybe the angpow law is only applicable to Pontian, but i found out from my cousin who went for the same trip that he had also faced the same angpow law on his way there at Pekan Nanas. Hmmmmmmmmm

Re: Beware when refeulling at BOLEH LAND
Anyways, just to share my experience. I posted this on my blog sometime back titled "Beware when driving into JB!"
To all you people who drive into JB often. You better read this. It just happened today.
I
wanted to get my car washed, vacuumed and maybe top-up some cheap
petrol. So I decided to head up to JB to get all things done. I drove
up to the causeway and passed the Woodlands Checkpoint as per normal,
then to the Malaysian checkpoint and got my passport stamped and when I
headed over to the inspection corner, I stopped my car, released my
seat belt (YES! I got my seat belts on!), and headed out to the back of
my car to lift up the car boot for inspection. When I was cleared, I
headed back into the driver’s seat and drove off. Almost
instantaneously I got stopped by a Malaysian traffic police and this
was the conversation we had.
“Sir, you didn’t have your seat
belts on. Under the Malaysian law, the driver is to have his selt belt
on whenever driving. I’m gonna charge and fine you for not putting on
your seat belt. The fine is 300RM.”
And then I explained (still in the car);
“Sorry
boss, I just got off the car just now for inspection. Usually I’ll
drive and put on my seat belt at the same time. I’ll put my seat belt
on right now.”
“Sorry Sir, this is Malaysia and you are under
the Malaysian law now. I don’t know if you can drive without your seat
belt on in Singapore but you’re now in Malaysia and I’ll have to
penalize you for not putting on your seat belt. Can I have your license
please?”
I got out of the car, took out and handed over my driving license to him.
“How much is the fine?”
“300 Ringgit”
“OK.”
And then he looked at me. Kinda surprised. Then he went…
“Ah! This is Malaysia! Please remember to put on your seat belt!”
“OK.”
He paused, and looked at me again…
“I give you one chance want ornot?”
“Oh yes please! Thank you boss!” I was already laughing inside. This fella just wants money.
“OK! 50 Ringgit! Go back into your car. Take back your license. MONEY UNDER LICENSE!”
I took out a 50RM note and placed it under the license and then handed both to him.
“AIYOH!! Fold the money!!
I obliged and folded the note into half and handed it to him again.
“SMALLER! HIDE THE MONEY UNDER THE LICENSE!!”
I laughed and acted blur, then did accordingly.
“THANK YOU!”
And then I drove off…
The whole scene lasted for about 5 mins and while I was there, another 5 cars were stopped. There were 3 of them.

Re: Beware when refeulling at BOLEH LAND
I am damn pissed with this bullsh*t at boleh land... I avoid boleh land like a plague. I refuse to drive in. Why? Simply because of all these crap. If their garment / people complain that Sporean's don't visit them, business is failing, its just their own fault. They deserve it. No wonder we're a 1st class nation with everything under the sun now, while they are still shouting "BOLEH!TRULY ASIA!"

CNY, if happy give an angpow for good luck.... it's not only in M'sia that this is happening... every cleaner, petrol kiosk pumpman etc looks at you expecting a lai see during this time.....

I think angpau with paper inside with written 4 digit number will be fine
Anyway guys, beware of the malaysia police... their salary is low so they will take the opportunity to makan a bit if they can... if you insist you are not wrong, very simple, bravely take a notepad and pen to jot down their numbers and ask what is their name. If can, take their photo also... or record video of the conversation.
I did that before, they try to accuse me for the offense i didnt commit. Same thing, before they ask further question i ask them their details first.... the fella then pretend to copy my ic a bit then give me back then said i can go liow ....

Re: Beware when refeulling at BOLEH LAND
I guess over the years the public service in boleh land had somehow improved quite a lot. Though not tip top but the service standard of the civil servants are still better compared to last time. So I must say they deserve to be commended on that.
But try they may, if all the locals continue to contribute negatively to the efforts of the public sector, I think all positive efforts could go down the drain. Imagine a self profess law abiding citizen could actually self impose a surcharge for refuelling. What more a rogue citizen?
We on our part should not contribute to the moral misdeeds of the corrupt officials. I know of many SGPians who deliberatly do stuff that they would not do here in SGP thinking that they would get away with it by just offering the officers a bribe. Yes they may sometimes ask for ang POWs with no rhyme and reason but we could just ignore them if we know that we have done no wrong. We should just bear in mind that once upon a time SGP also like that.

there is no limit for V power as no subsidy on its price, only the 'cheaper' fuels have limit.

Re: Beware when refeulling at BOLEH LAND
went up to malacca during the cny period.. was happy driving on the left lane cos my dad told me the tp there will catch speeders. i was doing 110km/h on the left lane and bolehland cars were zooming past me.. i then met with a police road block. and was pulled over. i was told that i was speeding at 132km/h. the guy ask for my license and then proceeded to the front of my car to note down my license plate. if i was speeding and he has a photo (which he claimed he has), y still need to take down my license plate? i asked to see the photo and ask where the guy was when i was caught and he just said confidential. then, he jus pass me back my license and say they will mail me the summons. he waited a while (i think see if i wanna give him $$ nt) and i just said ok and drove off.
oh yeah.. all the bolehland speeders were not at the road block and most of the cars stopped at the road block were SG cars.. and one bolehland mercs amg (dunno what series).
common?

Oh... at Malacca again.
I was stop by the Bolehland tp near malacca last yr hari raya.
I was at 110km/h and they stop me. they told me that their camera caught me at 120km/h. he told me he will issue me a summon RM300. But golden words come out from his mouth. "you want my help"? i understand what he means so i ask him how much? he tell me Rm 150 ONLY....i ask for discount but you guess what he told me?
"Boss sorry la hari raya le..no discount". Then i tell him nevermind give me the summon.
At the end i went to the their tp (JPJ) counter and pay with discount..only RM 120.
