Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
Does anyone has any complaints with the new batch of 1.6 Ex (A). l believe the safetry for Ex is compromised as compared to 1.6 SX. Currently, 1.6 Ex (A) has 2 disc/2 drum brakes instead of 4 disc brakes. It has 1 airbag instead of 2.

Or did u encounter a lousy SE which didn't even explain the specs before you sign on the dotted line?
Better to do some research before committing.

Thanks for the response bros. My SE has explained to me, but ultimately the decision is mine. i am just wondering if safety is greatly compromised with 1 airbag and 2 drum brakes with the EX. Especially during heavy rain. Of course l will drive safety, but there is always an element of what if...

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
I own an EX and have no complaints on that though.
I mean it should not be complaint......EX comes with those features.
You have a choice of what you want to buy.

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
2x disc u can still pay to install but it'd cost quite abit.
but extra airbag i heard there's no way to install.
well, i weighed my concerns, and the extra value i got for topping up 5k to get the sx was definately worth it.
but i'd say to each his own, different people look out for different things.
cheers

l am a first time buyer and l get an inking feeling when safety is compromised, especially when the car is to be used to ferry your love ones. But l am in a dilemma between EX and SA, cos l only want the safety features but l cando without the gargets of SA.

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
This Forte must be the 14th or 15th car I have owned and driven....
My previous cars, well back then there were no airbags,... and we survived... my previous Mits Airtrek was drum brake rear,... well, I survived too... in fact most of my previous cars were with rear drum brakes.... and my current other car has 1 airbag and that's on the pax side....
If you are so concerned, I would recommend either bus or MRT, no worries about safety there....

If safety is your main concern, SX is definitely better than EX. Go for SX. No regrets.

If that's so worrying to u, get the SX then.....if safety is compromised, LTA wouldn't approve the sale of such rides...

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
Airbags are not mandatory safety equipment, and never will be. Seat belts when used are the stronger guarantee to safety.
If you read up about airbags, you will know that it can kill you at worst, and at best leave you painful ears and eyes because of the chemical explosion to create air for the bag.

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
i think u shld refrain from saying compromised... as what some pple have said previously cars don't even have those features...
as to EX and SX differences that's the SE's job to explain to you the key differences and for you to understand and process to decide on the car you want.
if in the end you decided on EX due to price/feature then that's it... no point saying things like compromised, etc...

alamak my dear boomboom,
a person who drives a benz with 10 airbags but chiong like mad and end up wrapped around a tree or building also cant guarantee wont die...my previous 2 cars no airbags (but got many plastic bags in the glove compartment ) and so far i still safe...just drive safely.
rear drum brakes are sufficient for bread and butter cars like ours
unless you intend to turbo or supercharge your forte in future then all round discs brakes becum crucial.

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
There is one more defect caused by C&C. The stock car alarm is installed wrongly on EX with the activation of central locking using brake pedal. This feature is redundant as EX already come with speed sensing door locking when > 30Km. This wrongly installed feature has caused some complains from my passenager when they cannot open the door properly while the door knob has already unlock.
FYI: For those DIYer, just remove the pedal sensing pin on the stock alarm connector.

Does the newer batch come with alarm? My batch no alarm, if any alarm they are all Singapore fitted and arranged by sales agent.

I collected mine at end of Oct. The aftermarket alarm and key comes with a KIA logo. So it's one of the KIA stock alarm for cars without build in security system. Anyway. the C&C technician should study properly before fitting it. A common sign for local car dealer technicians

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
I see, my aftermarket alarm that I installed outside has locking when brake is stepped, but it gives a 20 seconds windows after you have unlocked before the brake-to-lock works again. It does sound irritating if it always locks on brake use... Free stuff always not what you expect it to be...
liplip- Junior Member
Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
Mine collect @ Oct also, no alarm, no RS.
Fixed them outside and its way cheaper than C&C.

Re: Complaints with 1.6 EX(A)
I didn't want reverse sensors also... the ti ti ti sound is annoying, and it does not make it any safer because it may not be able to detect narrow objects like poles and beams. Once I reversed into a motorcycle lot by mistake, bang, but no regrets cos the bumper had no mark whatsoever, continue to drive off like nothing happened.

Like that also can?
What you expect them to do? Send your car for engine change? If can then request for a turbocharged 3 litre.

It's the tone that matters, cannot see it with postings in a forum.
But if the Koup can customize to a 3 litre turbocharged engine, swee liao... can sell for a million dollars...

hmm...3 litre turbocharged engine overkill...road tax killer and drinks petrol...
if koup got an engine like the volkswagon 1.2litre turbo or 1.4litre turbo would be really great...cheap rd tax, good fc...my dream machine!

yes yes....forgot to add those...eventhough a temperature indicator will flash when temp is too high...it still does complement the inexistence of the guage. If so, y put a fuel guage....an indicator for low fuel will suffice as well.
Any cheap temp guage that can be used in forte or koup?
