iPod/iPhone
Hi fellas, just collected my Forte 1.6A SX on Monday and have been loving the ride!!
Just like to find out whether do you guys leave your iPod/iPhone connected continuously or do you plug in and out all the time?

Re: iPod/iPhone
Wonder if it will drain the car battery if we plug in the iPod/iPhone continuously though.
Back on my previous ride, I always make it a point to disconnect the iPod after my stock car battery went kaput after 1.5 years

Re: iPod/iPhone
I keep mine plugged in, engine off does the power outlet still supply power to the ipod?
But if i'm not driving for a few days at a go I normally unplug it.

Not really. So far, all the chinese characters that I keyed into my iPod works.
All those chinese characters you have issue displaying them on the HU traditional or simplified? Mine are simplified characters so far.

Re: iPod/iPhone
I believe that the power might be still going to the ipod cos it will always be in charging mode..Hmm, how about changing to use a thumbdrive instead?? Think it might not sap power from the battery when the engine is off ba..

this might sound a bit lame..
but i had this problem too and i tried this and it works..
u connect the cable to ur ipod 1st.. (dun connect to car 1st)
then at the car.. turn on ur audio system.. switch to "AUX" mode
then u connect the cable..
good luck

Re: iPod/iPhone
My cable is always plugged in. Normally i have to start my car first.. then plug the other end to the phone after that. Can work. If plug before starting car I think can't work.

Re: iPod/iPhone
I think rather than problems with chinese words, its more a problem with multiple fonts... my HU display only half the title like say: 'Tri_ler' because the other 'l' is using a different font, which tends to happen alot more with my chinese titles...

Re: iPod/iPhone
Atlant1s,
Really your Simplified chinese list in your iPod can show on your HU???
I thought our HU can only support traditional chinese.

Yes, it can.
But I realise that for some chinese characters, our HU is unable to display them.

Re: iPod/iPhone
Hi bros, have tried connecting the iphone 3GS to the ipod slot, it does not work! Should I use the iphone cable to connect or the given ipod cable that comes with the car? The ipod cable that comes with the car does not fit with my iphone. Really need help and advice thanks.

Re: iPod/iPhone
it should work. But have to try few methods. Eg on the engine then, iPhone to the Kia cable first then plug into the car. I yet to find the best method. Maybe one of the bro can advise the best order to connect iPhone.charnfai30 wrote:Hi bros, have tried connecting the iphone 3GS to the ipod slot, it does not work! Re: iPod/iPhone
My iPhone cable is always plugged in. When I want to listen to the songs in my iPod/iPhone, then I plug in the dock connector.
Why does your iPod cable not fit with your iPhone?

Not correct actually,
the song name you show in this photo can be either Trad Chn and Simplified Chn.
Get what I mean?
For an example:
周杰伦_龙券风.mp3
Simplified Chinese MP3 filename display: Failed
Simplified Chinese MP3 ID3 display: Failed
周杰倫_龍券風.mp3
Traditional Chinese MP3 filename display: OK
Traditional Chinese MP3 ID3 tag display: OK

Those 1.6sx come with bluetooth have this function for iphone connected to usb/ipod. If there is in coming call, the music will stop during answering the call and will continue playing once the call is over. Mine can work this way.

Once iPod plugs in, you won't be able to control from the iPod. Controls from the HU itself. Btw, iPod only pauses, not stop. And which screen you referring to? on the iPod Touch? My Classic only shows the Kia logo on my screen, so all controls via the HU. And I don't think you can view mp4 on touch, and sound coming out from the car audio.
Hope this helps.
