hi all...notice the center silver piece on my MT gear knob is loose and like can fall off anytime...
any MT drivers here face this problem?
Is this a good reason to change to aftermarket?

Re: Manual Gear stick.....
no after market knob for manual stick ??
it is because of the ring under the knob (you need to lift it when engaging the reverse gear) ??

I also find the manual gear stick a bit flimsy... not "solid" looking.

Re: Manual Gear stick.....
ok solved the problem today..
turn the knob anti clockwise to take it out, at the back got one spring and also a screw. Tighten the screw and the silver portion will be tight again. =)

Re: Manual Gear stick.....
does rolling the car in neutral gear spoils anything? like gearbox/brakes? cuz it's like can save quite an amount of petrol...

I do that when rolling down towards traffic lights. So far so good. In terms of savings i am not so sure. Just wan to put to neutral gear when slowing down to stop.

it'll wear off your brakes faster because there's no engine brake
if i'm not wrong, you'll save more petrol by allowing the car to cruise to a stop on a higher gear than on neutral

Re: Manual Gear stick.....
think can try to observe the instant fuel indicator.. both should do the same saving, as no fuel going in engine..

Re: Manual Gear stick.....
current cars will automatically cut off the fuel input during deceleration, thus u should just leave it in gear...
y? because putting the car on neutral will disengage the engine from the wheels... if u are still in gear, the movement of the wheels will continue moving the engine... conversely, if u are in neutral, the engine will still be fed some fuel so that it does not stall... therefore keeping the engine in gear while rolling will save more fuel... save the brakes too, but i think that is negligible unless u're rolling down hill...
