Warming up / down of engine
Peeps,
Do u let ur engine run for at least 5 mins after overnite parking and repeat the same ritual after u park ur ride when back at base?
Any advantages/dis-advantages for doing so?

Re: Warming up / down of engine
It's only applicable for older generation of cars. Those cars from the late 90s till this generation need not be warmed up or cooled down now. You may google for the reasons. Can't remember the webbie that I obtained the info from previously liao.

Warming up or cooling down too long only waste petrol. You do better by just moving off gently and don't rev too much till you engine warms up sufficiently. At least you don't waste petrol idling in the carpark.

maybe force of habit.... i still wait for the car to go idling speed of 600 rpm before i move off.... but usually this happens in less than a minute... just to be clear ... when we turn on the car, idling speed will be around 1000rpm then go down to 600 rpm...
but warming down... nope.
but warming down... nope.

Re: Warming up / down of engine
probably let it warm up for 20-30 seconds before on aircon/driving off...recommended by Kia technical experts... as for warming down, they din mention...
just to add, warming up allows the engine oil to fully lubricate the engine, thereby protecting it

Dun need to intentionally warm up. Go in on engine, and can slowly start to move off. Dun waste petrol and time.
