KIA forte koup is too expensive

This is to support my thread.

From vivo launch till now that's a increase of $5000.
I did not see such increase before.
My impression is that even the madza 3 zoom zoom fever
four years back did not create such increment.

What is this?

Because c&c sell more than 200 koups at launch?

because of the COE now...

No need to analyse so hard. Simple reason is that the Koup was way underpriced at Vivo.

I don't see the increase so much in other makes. Eg chevolet cruze.
I still point my finger to c&c!

perhaps you are new to this forum. in the past few months, CnC had been adding new things onto the new batches. the additional 5-year unlimited warranty and the new push-start button also adds to the overall price. this is the price to pay for more blings.

Not lucky but I looked at the product vs the asking price and decided it was worth every penny as it was affordable. Even at today's prices, i still tink it's damn affordable.

then buy the cruze la. why blame C&C? they not forcing u to buy a koup are they?

If they give this 5years warranty, does not means to increase the price.
In this case, we paid fir this warranty and this also prevents us to
go to outside workshop to have our cars service.

Once found parts that is not within warranty, money still applies.
This is business.

you can still go outside for servicing but don't change parts that will void warranty. you can go for usual engine oil change, spark plugs, air filter, which will not void the warranty.

in the mean time, continue to save up for the koup. you need to manage your wealth carefully before deciding on the koup, else it can really be a nasty dream to own a car.

Why I should buy the cruze?
I am using this as an example.

simple rule of supply and demand....
since it is underpriced for the features that it has, it created a healthy demand. now the price is going up, would ppl still think it as value for money? if ppl do, expect it to become higher somemore....
somewhere along the line, the price will flat when the price will be deemed just right for the car....

or until a new car with better features come up and comparable pricing comes in....

actually very affordable already, compared against normal cars like the toyota altis or the honda civic or the mazda 3/6

perhaps can also consider the hyundai avante too, good decent car with good fuel economy but great price

of course he wont lol, he took the plunge to buy at the launch at a lower price.

I believe the SE also mentioned that that was a launch price. Confirm will go up.
Assume the COE then was ard 15k av and now 15-18k range that means 3k up is around normal if it was not the launch price.
Assuming you are also right that it shld not up so much, 2k? 3k? or how much is reasonable to you?

2-3k COE buffer + 2-3k up for launch price discount factor, 5k is just about correct then. If seriously 5k is a big factor, you might seriously have to think twice about the koup.
Maybe try to find a 2 door at a lower price.

i think first and foremost we shudn't be comparing Koup with 4-dr sedans as they are different classes.

To me, in terms of pricing, the closest competitor is obviously the 'cousin' of Kia Koup - Hyundai Tuscani - which costs around $80k? Cant find the price online.. think no more selling..

Secondly, Guardian feels the price increment is way too huge relative to other brands.

As explained by other bros, I too feel that the Koup is seriously underpriced. No way you can find a coupe at $60k bro.. not to mention the launch price. Plus, with all the features like sunroof, push-start button, 6-discs changer, 4 discs brakes, cool looks, 17" designer sports rims, 5 yrs unlimited mileage warranty, etc, no sushi-land coupes can offer these at $60k (not even $70k too).

Also explained, COE increment of about $3k shud suffice C&C to increase price by $2/3k. Not forgetting now they are offering 3yrs free servicing.

if so chum, zeh taxi lor, buay sim tia eh! no need bidding somemore! at most raise by 50c, not 5k.

well, price increase due to demand. if the price on offer now is too much den look somewhere else where you can find a car that suits your budget. if you still intend of getting the koup, den suck thumb and pay lor. no use whining abt the increment as it is part and parcel of business.

anyway, bro Guardian, what car u driving? were you intending to get the koup but the price is too much for u? jus wondering.

first thing first, will u spend 50-60k on a car that u cannot sit, not to even mention testdrive, no firm specs(verbally forte engine), no insur. pricing, no brochure?? A #of us did..

low on budget - get e 1.6m @63k... sounds reasonable still(2D+3yrs svc+5yr warrant) now got foc bk, red leather disc??

make comparison man.. life is ur's.

thats the fun part to have so much unknown .yet the rewarding part is to be the first to own it.

yup ,redkoup is right.. thats the purpose of having soft-launch at vivo before the offical launch.thats to test the market & respond esp its KIAs first time to have a koup 2dr .. so they actually priced it low first during the Vivo launch.which is just $4k above their saloon.any other brand will easily be at least $10k difference btw their 4drs to 2drs..so even with the price increase now ,its still attractive..i guess you cant get any coupe now at below $70k

btw, Guardian how old are you?

Note that if you are in the early twenties, your insurance should be at quite a high amount.

I discourage ppl having difficulties in owning a car at 60+K and then have to cope with an insurance premium of $3-4K.

Have to be money savvy....remember a car is NEVER an asset. Dun be fooled and lured into my "car is bigger than yours game."

Glad to note that the fellow Koupers (or Koupians...) here are a sensible mature lot.

One simple advise to those crying farder marder over the price of the Koup: Live within your means.

its selling like hot cakes. naturally cnc will want to increase the price further.

i think it's quite funny that someone come and blame the company when it raises the price to beyond affordability. CnC is not a charity, it's doing business..it has its target group, it's profit margin and sales figure to care about. If they can sell more to their target grp, they will raise their price..it's business!

Please don't get angry at CnC, maybe if they are the sole supplier of bread and rice then you have a reason to..

for the price, d Koup is inexpensive.... cos witf all d features dat comes wif it, it's a steal ya.....

it's like now am saying i'm pissed at CnC cos their Evo X is priced at 160k and i can't afford it. And I'm pissed cos I want it.

lancer ex sports after discount will surely beat koup and all its accessories
the lancer ex also has a better interior and can do external mod to look 100% like evo

but 1.5L engine is under-powered for the car thus will have to resort to stressing the engine for adequate performance and 4 doors with rather cramped passenger seats

else i think its gonna be way better than the koup

vios i know its damn bare but i had a look at the impreza and was quite impressed leh
i think it was going at 51k for the sedan so it was super great value even compared against the most value for money car the avante...

would have gotten it if my budget were lower, originally i was considering the honda civic hybrid

Just curious, what's the point of having to "chng" the Lancer EX with your thousands to be a EVO wannabe and yet it does not perform like one?
