That previous photo is our up and coming IR and Marina Bay and will be looking like that in the near future, and the maun culprit is this pic below... took this photo in China while on a green mission two yrs ago.
------------------------------------
Take a look at our sky lately, photo taken last week from my balcony window - Fire of Fury
-------------------------------------
This will be the sky of the future if global warming continues. No more clear blue sky but a hot and yellow overcast sky.
Note: not a work of Photoshop, pic shot straight from the camera.

Oh! thank you, you too can make it one day and live on the higher level of an apartment.
For your info I used to live in a landed property in Holland Road, and our formal PM Mr Goh is my neighbour when he was in NOL.
Later on, it's history when he moved out, and I also moved to the Pandan Valley condo.
That's all for now.

wow. holland road... that's for the richest of the rich. i sense an income gap widening in our forum - with students (w/o income) at the lower end and wealthy members at the higher end. lol.
to stay in a landed property, even for cheaper sites like those in sembawang and serangoon, it would take me another few decades of hardwork to achieve that lavish lifestyle.

Yeh! That was the first apartment I bought in the good old days from DBS land. The 1300 plus sg ft apartment cost me 96K only.
At that time I was still a bachelor and doing my own advertising and design business, after that I got married at age 37.
Hey OT already, here are some very exciting Christmas Pics for for viewing pleasure, taken at the Ion Orchard.
Celestial Sky with beautiful colour rays, photo taken inside the big Christmas tree outside Ion entrance
Beautiful reflection from the Christmas tree glass globe
Colourful and dazzeling LED lights at the LV shop
I am not a supporter of LV products but I like the design of the LV shops with glass facade outside, pic below.
Colourful rain pouring down on the lighted Christmas trees, very beautiful indeed.

Glad to see many ppl here interested in photography jus to share this..
Recently i had a secondary sch gathering after almost 20 yrs! and one of my fren actually is a Professional lifestyle photographer now! he did many shots with mediacrop artists and also many commercial products.. so like wad most photography enthusiast will do, i ask him "eh, be my teacher leh.." guess wat he said.. he told me photography can be taught quite easily..from book, photography lession etc but the "talent" part cannot be taught.. i suspose most ppl will think tats a "proud" answer but knowing him for so long i get wat he means and i tends to agree with him.. nevertheless, he agreed with sharing tips/ experience etc which is good news for me.. but again.. he super busy so quite hard to "learn" from him too..
anyway, i am not here to discourage u guys from learning from expert, but as i am now "waking" up from the idea of relying on a good teacher.. i think impt thing is to rely on urself first.. cheers..
anyway just my 2 cents worth

Actually what your what friend mentioned is right, you only ask an expert for advise and impart some photographic knowledge to you and the rest is on you own. You see when Jimixer join us, he interact among our young and old photographer and he did learn things very fast. He is so happy to be with our two MU F.U.N. outings, during the last MU at Ion Orchard he even bring along his beautiful girl friend to join us.

Yes gazoo this is a one man show pic, first set you camera on a very steady tripod, then set a very slow shutter speed and a small aperture, using Auto focus aim at the computer screen and press the shutter button.
Now the shutter is on at open and you start drawing the image near and close to the monitor screen until the click shutter closed. That is my final picture.

No! Blue Cruiser don't buy book, its a waste and becomes obsolete in no time. Borrow from our National Library and is free as a member. The library have the very latest on digital photography and photoshop CS books plus CD rom.
Save some money for the car poison better still.
Talking of experience, as you have said plays an important role, I always advice those newbies to take more pics whatever. Since now digital photography is rather cheap as compare to my 60s - 80s days. One more, I also
use a simple Point and Shot camera , NO DSLR for me, too big and heavy. Two of our forum member also follow suit to get themself a PnS camera after looking at my pics.
Now all my oldies and heavy weights Mamiya 6x7, 3 Nikons and Bronica 4x5 camera are keep in the cupboard waiting to get fungus
on the lenses.

You are welcome, holiday also need to take some nice good pics for memory mah.
Point and shoot camera is good enough already, don't go for DSLR for holidays oversea.
Always travel light on holiday and attracts less crime and custom officers.

i agree PnS is good in fact so good these days that it can give u a better picture if u can't use SLR properly.. but PnS cant give u the creative range and quality..
the more u into photography, the more u want to take an expressive, high quality photo.. tats is why ppl go into SLR..

I beg the difference, here are two photos taken with a simple PnS 3.2 mega pixel Canon A400 camera (cost less than $140). I did these photo for a client doing Fast food business, and it was done four years ago. These photo was taken in natural light condition just near my balcony window.

Nice photos andikong, precisely wat i meant by u dun need expensive DSLR to do the job so long u knw wat kinda photos n effects u want.. but P&S has its limitation.. e.g. short focal lenght n give u a lot more depth of field than SLR.. for me i prefer to learn for myself by not using P&S which does everyhing for me..

Though F.U.N group is primarily setup for Fuji user, they welcomed me using a Nikon D90 (my friend's) for the 1st outing and Canon G9 (mine own's) for the 2nd... A bunch of very nice and enthusiatic photographers who are ever eager to share!

PnS = Point and Shoot..
Bro, beri hard to advise u leh.. if u really wanna go into DSLR, there r a few brands out there.. but usu ppl go for Nikon or Canon.. for a start, wad i can suggest is understand a bit on photography by reading up some basics, do ur homework on the internet.. there r tons of write-up, photos posted by various camera/ lens, read the users reviews etc. u can also go to those shops where u can have a feel on these cameras..
seriously, i dun think there is a "buy-and-won't-regret" camera leh.. u see.. regardless of which brands, there r entry level camera, mid-range and high-end ones.. so how far u wanna pursue no one knows.. unless money is of no concern, one usu starts with entry or mid range.. explore the world of DSLR.. slowly build up one's interest e.g. some like to do portaits, some like wild life, some like landscape.. den if wanna go further, u will get the gears more towards the areas u like.. apart from camera body, lens oso plays an impt role.. again there r many lenses available covering different needs and different lenses give u different images.. i hope by now u understand wat i meant earlier tat its hard to advise u.. nevertheless, u gotto start somewhere.. so b4 u "just do it".. u might wanna do those things i suggested lor.. there r a few ways how ppl do it lah.. some ppl buy 2nd hand for a start.. some buy n sell so wont lugi tat much.. for lens u can even try rental first b4 buying..
lastly, there r also many things (some r necessary items e.g. dry cabinet) u gotto buy along the way.. so must oso set a side some $ to buy this buy tat.. just to share my experience.. hope u dun find me too lor so ya?

Buy 2nd hand ahh?? Where to go buy?? I been asking lah but seems like those ppl i know into photography dun wanna sell their cameras. :-(
I was thinking of mid-range. :-)
Actually not in a hurry to get. Ask first. :-)
