Banged someone... pay $350 for respray bumper?

Haiz... I think it is a painful lesson!

I banged a mitsubishi lancer and offered to the owner to "fix" the bumper... Owner flew overseas for work liao and friend to took over said the workshop quoted $350 for fixing the bumper...

Am I a big carrot here?

Regret not nego on the spot and take pictures...

U kena ketuk already... Mine respray the whole bumper.. only $100 if not mistaken... the other party paid... located at Sin Ming... U want the contact? Send me PM i reply you.. but price u confirm with the workshop coz I only saw the invoice that was invoiced to the other party..

Just called the workshop I was asked to pay $350, he mentioned the bumper needs to be taken down, mounting bracket knocked back straight, crack covered, re-sprayed with 2k paint.

With this scope sounds more reasonable?

It near the guy's workplace, in Pioneer Road North. Wonder if I should enquire it's neighbouring shops...

+1. If need be I can give you the workshop I went at Sin Ming. Mine is a minor case so not sure if the $100 applies.... you can call to check if you want to. Let me know.

He shared that he is trying to get one near his office, so that he can save some hassle of travelling...

Anyone repaired a slightly sagging bumper before? $300++ sounds normal?

My forte now also has a slightly sagging front bumper now. But the gap is like 4mm only. Used to be 1mm between headlight and bumper. Think I won't be fixing it myself...

Actually I don't know any workshops yet... My last visit to any workshop was 5K servicing at CnC. My family likes to go JB for servicing or repairs.

Apparently this workshop is the usual workshop that the other party goes to.

That is why I am so scared of becoming carrot... no experience myself.

I recently pay to another party $150 for respraying the bumper and re-attaching back the bumper (as he claim kinda offset).. I not sure how serious is yours but mine definitely not serious except observed some paint chip off, some minor dents and mis-align bumper.

Considering you are heng to kena charge for $350 since u dun have pictures taken to prove.. If you met one just like my friend, he basically just claim one whole bodykit and 4 rims despite the guy only bang into his rear.

If u go SIN MING INDUSTRIAL ESTATE there, there really got many many shops that can offer at a reasonable pricing.. I just did mine (panel beating and respray a door panel + lower fender) for $250.

Tried to call other workshops... as usual cannot get quote because they want to see the car... no luck on getting more quotes for comparison...

I think Sin Ming and Sungei Kadut have a lot more shops so competition is definitely there... Is the Pioneer area small in terms of car workshops?

Thats why pictures are required.. in that way u can challenge the claim if u felt is over-priced.. No pictures, they can anyhow accuse u also can...

or u can choose to be the mean guy (like what tish encounter).. LL also don't pay up. (Psss.. Don't say i teach you one hor)

Fyi, C&C charge $350 for a new Forte front bumper...

Oh yeah CnC quoted me 200+ to respray the whole bumper (1 panel)... So i think $350 is a rip off..

Paid $350 to close the case. Carrot or not carrot, the $$$ paid helped me to sleep better.

Now maybe it is time to fix my bonnet... bent slightly. Maybe at the same time the bonnet can transform into matte black with some simple bonnet vents... (when stock feel like this is waste money, have to fix might as well fix my dreams too)

no offense. apart from paying $350 for the repair, i think part of the $350 should be compensation to the inconvenience caused to the other party.

banger paid $350.00 whether carrot or not, sleep better, happy in the end.....

Yeah, I wouldn't mind that part actually. It was an inconvenience to other party.

Initially I was hoping the repair cost to be lower, then topup a token amount to induce happiness. At that rate, the car workshop boss turns out the happiest, cos he claims the other party is taking zero.

U would not believe how much my repairs will cost... the taxi uncle that banged into me sure will get angry when he hears the repair cost....

Can believe after I heard inputs from my family, who owned cars longer than me and had their share of going to fix the bumps.

Maybe kapitan's car also odd one out, too much customizations to put back together... Did you know your car is discussed in some US forum? They liked what you did with you car.

It was not my Forte that got accident, it's my other, a Toyota, which is a rare one in Singapore... both pax side doors are damaged and also the side skirt, bumper got to readjust.... both doors and side skirt got to import in, which will cost... and not only cost, time taken is also not short..... I estmate at least 1 month before parts are in, and in mean time, rental car given to me is be charged on daily basis, rental car alone will be more then 3 k..... so I guesstimate total repair cost in excess of 10k.

Give the links to the US forum leh.... I wanna see what they discus about.

i met a v v mean guy, which happend i knocked his bumper n def can b fix by repair+spray, with all wayanging injury, refused to settle in private and insist wanna to file a claim, kept saying he's having after-accident syndrome head pain, neck pain wanna go 2 specialist for a detail checkup. n god knws whther he'd requested a CT scan & MRI

i 'gave up' n let insurance take over and will challenge insurance if i see e rocket-high bill...
hate to pay higher premium to let such mean ppl abuse the claiming system. *@(&*#&@

More than 10 years ago when I was rear ended so many times, I can tell u how much for each part and job. The rear bumper was about 250 then.

I think the guy was nice enough to settle quickly w/o much fuss. 350 is good deal. My 2cts.

You are lucky the owner of the building never file a claim against you . If not, later the say due to the accident building might collapse bla bla bla... then come the bill

Thanks for all the info, especially those that help me feel I not carrot. I think the guy has helped me much by going ahead and fixing it instead of some other things. Been trying to look up prices but really cannot find something to compare, some forums even quote $150 but dunno these guys meant the accident happened how many years ago.

You will lose against the wall leh... cos the % at fault is 100:0 for you:building... Building can say in my defense I moved 0mm unless in the case of earthquake...

did u sign a private settlement form with him?

did he complain that he got affected by whiplash oso?
