Where do you put yor GPS?

Where do you put your GPS and why?

e.g.
On windscreen / dashboard?
Facing the windscreen, top, bottom, left, right or center?
Cables run from where? exposed? Hidden?
Pros and Cons

In my previous car, it is on the bottom center of the windscreen.
The cables run from the ciggy adapter in the middle (Altis) to the top where the GPS is.

Pros
- Center, easy to see
- Cables shortest distance to the GPS
- Can ask the front passenger to "program" the GPS for you while you drive.
- Arm's length away. (Which may be a con as well... safety concerns)

Cons
- Night time can be a hassle as it creates a "mirror" image in the windscreen.
- Cables exposed and runs past the Head Unit, quite unsightly
- Cable cannot run from the side as the cable is not long enough.
- "Part" of the windscreen is covered and blocks the view of the road (@ the bonnet area). *Not a big problem for me cos I'm 1.8m.

err I put it at my dashboard and cable is already hidden the position at the dashboard is somewhere at the left aircon deck of the driver side.

Now a days, just key in postal code, choose fastest way / shortest way.

I had first hand experienced seeing ppl got lost with a GPS both in NS and also in normal day driving, I rather stick to old school navigation, browse through quick street directory, read sign boards and basic directional sense.

As I don't go up north often, I doubt I'll need one in "HUGE" Singapore.

Actually I use it more in SG.

My wife's job require her to travel around SGP a fair bit... so... to save fuel...

and AMK is a freaking nightmare if you dun know the area well....
