as long as the engine is new, it needs a run in, if its being abused by delivery, then the more u need to run in the engine. The rings/cams/valves needs to shape in.

There is no standard on which method to run in.

IMHO, just follow the >4k rpm before 1000km. After 1k servicing, can drive hard a little bit to blow some soot from engine chamber. Once reach 10,000km, after synthetic oil change, luooo the engine hard to redline and here we go......mroooooom......at 3yrs mark, sell the ride and get the 2012 Cerato Fortilla II........sweee

The reason why people say do not rev hard before 1k is due to the fact that there are alot alot of impurities in the engine oil due to the pistons and seals being molded into shape....


If you were to floor it, some of these impurities might reattach themselves onto the cylinders and cause damage... Right after 1k oil change is a good chance to push up the revs to further increase load to the engine before the oil gets dirty again...
